ESPN is doing a Mt. Rushmore of sports for each state in the union. Got me to thinking last night. Tom Landry- nuff said Earl Campbell- Awww remember that run against the Cowgirls on Thanksgiving Day 1979. Nolan Ryan- Go ahead, charge the mound Robby Sammy Baugh- Greatest ever.

This isnt fair, everything is bigger in TEXAS. We could make 4 or 5 Mount Rushmores that would be as good or better than any in the country. If were talkin pioneers, that are from Texas, not just played ball here, then you got a host of names to choose from. Here is just a few off my the top of my head......
Tom Landry Nolan Ryan Earl Campbell Ben Hogan Tex Schramm Jack Johnson Sammy Baugh Don Meredith Byron Nelson

I have not heard of a single name that is not in the entertainment business. I thought this was about sports.
I nominate Jesse Owens.

Of course he did... I thought the guy was asking for the best of Texas. He would be on the Alabama List.

I'm sorry. I didn't see where this was a Texas sportsman thread. I really need to learn to read.

Owner/management Lamar Hunt: Don't get all "KC Chiefs" on me, he was TEXAN through and through. This man may have done more for USA sports than anyone else in history. Check out his bio some time. Coaching Tom Landry: A legend in coaching and a native Texan. While his schemes and methods may have been caught up with, a truly great mind and character. Player (team sport) Nolan Ryan: Talent, work ethic and statistics to back it up. This man dominated his game for decades. Player (individual sport) Lance Armstrong: Whatever you may think of him or his sport, no one has dominated like he has. There it is, go ahead and start chiseling.

PK thats a hell of a list. Might be an argument in there for Tex Schramm/Lamar Hunt and Ben Hogan or Byron Nelson/Lance Armstrong. JMO

True enough. That's what makes "lists" such a great sport in and of itself.

So is this a special they are running on Sportscenter every day or is it a seperate show? Wonder if you can find the list of each state's picks on their website after the show airs?
