A friend of mine is going on a hunt in Williamson County right outside of Leander, Tx and he has never hunted that area before so I told him I would ask to see if any of you guys on the forum could provide some pictures of bucks taken from that area over the past couple of years so he knows what to look for in quality. Thanks again for your help.

for the most part you are correct on the 120 8-pointers, but there are deer bigger than that in williamson county. not a lot of them, but if they get the time to grow they can definitely get to 140 if not better on rare occasions. age is the limiting factor in most of the eastern hill country, if you can get around that you will find some nice deer.

I live in North Austin, pretty much cedar park. Are most of the areas you all are hunting/seeing deer in Leander and Williamson county area, private or public? Any decent ranches or public land to hunt in area?

East Williamson around Granger has produced large deer on an occasional basis. The west part of the county typically will have 8 to 10 pointers in the 110-120 range - there may be an exceptional buck over that but fairly rare. But lots of deer to see and they should be still in part of the rut
