I'm a new waterfowl hunter, going to be hunting the DFW metroplex and just need help on getting decoys.
What species do I get? How many is enough?

You'll have a bunch of opinions. A good starter spread I think is a dozen or so teal, dozen mallard, and 6 pintail. That will get you through a lot of situations. If you stick with it, you'll never have enough.

We didn't even get into resting deeks, feeders, or full body's.... different situations call for different deeks and spreads.

You can never own enough. You don't use them all every time, but there is never enough. 8pointdrop has a good plan, go with that. If you are walking in, get light decoys! Cherokee Sports has some blow up decoys that are very light and have a lot of movement in them. The weight is pretty much the weight of the weight attached to the string. They are cheap too.

1/2 dozen mallards active. 1/2 doz gadwalls, 1/2 doz pintails for later season. If you got money get some blue bills or ringers if you hunt some open water. Never know what they may pull in.
