LinkI never even heard of these. Is it a mutation or another species?

Worked with a guy that was stationed there must have been late 80s to early 90s. He always talked about the white deer.
Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

I heard about them a few years ago, one of the guys on a callmaking forum was telling us about them. I haven't seen him on the forum in a long time. But from what I remember they look like deer except they are white, but not albino. He was asking for donations for a non profit to help save the white deer. I was under the impression some non profit was trying to take over the military installation to help save the herd.

From the article:
In this case, the white deer are not albinos, which lack pigments throughout their body. Instead, the rare white deer have a genetic mutation which causes them to lose the normal brown pigment only in their fur.
I just turned it on . I was looking bird dogs in the butt this morning.

They would make some cool mounts.

Ive got one on our lease, not an albino. She slowly became whiter over the years which started on top of her head.

There used to be one (doe) on the north side of Grapevine lake that I saw a few times. I would see her near the cross timbers trail head riding my mtn bike on the knob hills trail. Never got close enough to her to see if she was a true albino or not, but she was white as snow. this was probably 8-9 years ago.

So, the Army has kept a high fence preserve for years and is about to sell it?
Cool.

Cool. Sure is what it sounds like from the biased article. It's not like a PROSPECTIVE buyer wouldn't want them around. The article essentially assumes any buyer will eradicate the deer either by HUNTING or agricultural practices. Read articles and think. The bias in that story makes me want to vomit.

She was bed down in a thicket about 50 yards off the road.

White deer would be easier for predators to kill, including man. Who wouldn't want one as a trophy? I see no bias, just fact.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.
