Opening day, i made a mad dash to get to a spot. I reverted back to my days of growing up in S AR where it was a war and boat race to get to a hole. What should have happened is one other group near us should have come in and hunted with us. We would have had a decent shoot.
Here's what I expect:
I dont care if you call. The only way you will learn is to do it.
I expect the barrel of your shotgun to be pointed to the sky if my lab is retrieving. I dont care if 20 ducks come in.
Anytime anyone is out setting decoys or fixing them, barrels to the sky.
No skybusting: You ruin a season for everyone by doing it.
If you think I am doing something wrong, tell me. You may be right.
I drive a 2015 Black Silverado 4x4 Crew Cab with tonneau cover over it. I would rather the bunch of us have a decent hunt on land none of us has a deed to rather than spite each other and we all have a poor hunt. I just expect safety over any and all other aspects. My son most likely will be with me and he is very careful and a good hunter. He's learning how to call and is getting there and knows enough not to flare ducks. I blow a cut down keyhole and it is LOUD but I use it sparingly. I didn't opening day and that was selfish on my part. I refuse to lead my life that way. I have enough things go stress over.
Keep on keeping on.

I like the way you think, Ive only been hunting for 5 or so years and just seems like waterfowlers are one or the other. Either real nice, friendly and fun to be around or are the newer breed of douchebag that think they are the best out there and talk down on others.
What area do you hunt in texas?

The last time I got muzzle flagged was from hunting with someone I invited to team up with. Nice gesture man, for me there are only a few ppl I like to hunt with these days.

Letmland, if i ever see you out there i will take you up. this is my first season of duck hunting and i got bit by the bug. i usually hunt with my brother, who has several years of experience hunting the Puget Sound in WA. we are both former Marines and are also sticklers for safety, just because you can buy a gun and camo doesnt mean you need to be out there making me nervous with your handling of your firearm, i have enough stress in my life with out that kinda stuff.
