The years of drought have hurt he numbers around where I hunt sure there are a few mature bucks but doe and buck numbers are down from previous levels. Good fawn crop this year though should help things in the future. Haven't seen signs of a couple bucks that made it through last season this year that should be real good this year so there is always hope.

Over all still fun and better than when and where I first started hunting when if we saw a couple deer a season it was a good year.

So far, below average. Haven't seen the chasing as in years past. This cold snap might have them moving.

Good first year start on a new place. Lots of trash culls are going to have to be shot this year and the next, then it should begin to get really interesting.

Me 3

I'm not even excited about deer hunting yet. Hunting has been the poorest I've ever seen it

Hopefully those silver desert deer will be more cooperative

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Hardly saw anything and then my wife started rattling some horns. I thought that was dumb as I have never rattled in anything in Eastland country. 30 seconds later I see this buck running flat out towards us. Live and learn. But I hate it when my wife can say, "I told you so!".... except for this time.

Beautiful buck Mr. T. You look old enough and wise enough to know not to argue with the wife. 'course, I haven't learned either yet.

Can I ask a favor? If you would put a "t" in the middle of your "renal" in "cabin renal" in your sig line, I will promise to consider renting it. grin

Excellent opening weekend in Marble Falls. Weather was crappy on Saturday, but a lot of deer movement all day despite the rain, and both a 9 point and 13 point were harvested. My 5.5 year old 9 point dressed at out 142 lbs., which I was pretty thrilled with for a hill country buck. The 13 point dressed out at about 125 lbs., and another 9 pt. was harvested yesterday. Rut seems to be kicking in 7-10 days early in our neck if the woods.

I can't get to my place yet. Got to fix the road in. Rain washed me out.

I put average. Deer movement has been very slow for us up till the opener. Not much of anything on cameras and not much of anything during the few hunts in archery we sat. We saw decent numbers and numbers of bucks opening weekend.

With the weather being so wet and windy, I did not see a single deer opening morning, even when hunting a feeder. That hasn't happened in a very long time. Last season, I saw a legal eight on opening morning while hunting public land.

Did not hear many shots this past opening morning either.

About average for me. Never have had a super large deer herd on my places so seeing a few spikes moving around is always nice. There was a big six and a decent 10 that I let walk last year so I'm hoping they'll show up again this time.

If all else fails there's plenty of javelina running around that I might be able to pick up a good one for the contest.

Hunted 4 days and didn't see a deer. Saw a bobcat on Sunday. Saw a lot or birds, squirrels and wasps. I hunt in Camp county. Acorns are everywhere.
