traveled to Garden City, then to Syrucuse..I grew up in Finney county, never seen it so wet for the last twenty yrs, lots of uncut milo (there is so much grain elevators are full),now, stock piling on the ground. usually see birds along roads in evening or early morning, did not see one bird, talked to harvesters and they are seeing very few. some winter wheat is up, usually see birds there in early morning, nada.

Not seeing much east of there either in the way of pheasant, but tons of quail. Going to hit them up this weekend.

My farmer in SW Kansas says lots of birds?? You think he is just saying there are quite a few compared to the goose egg the past few years?

Good numbers in the NW. Not going to be a banner year, but it's going to be much better than the last two years up there.

I am planning a trip for around Christmas. I will use the reports to decide where to go.

I can't hunt any longer, I keep up with conditions with the farmer that bought our farm 15 miles north of Cimarron, he has parcels of land in a 20 mile area, so he has a good perspective of the population.

My contact is my best friend from high school in the OK panhandle, who became an agronomist and then married into a family that farmed and ranched and has now taken it over. Yes, I admit that I am a very blessed guy.

best thing, drive around and ask, most will let you hunt and tell where birds are. when I was on the farm, first group that came by, I would join, they always appreciated me taking to the best spots
