This is pretty predictable information. They are cruising around looking for hot does. The rut should start soon. We have saw a few small bucks roaming this weekend. This weekend they should start getting stupid. If your not seeing them at the feeder get on the ground in the timber. You will see deer moving.

Cross Timbers - Montage is in the north of the cross timers area.

Representing the north-central part of the state, conception dates in the Cross Timbers and Prairies were as early as October 13 and extended to December 17. In the northern portion of the region the average breeding date was November 15. The average breeding date in the southern part was November 17. Biologists recorded an average of 1.7 fetuses per doe and 95 percent of the females had been successfully bred. The majority (90%) of the fawns are born by June 15 in the northern area and by June 20 in the southern area.

Good to know. I've been scratching my head trying to figure this out. After talking to some buddies down south, rut has been about week and half earlier.

How big is your property and how many hunters. If small size and only hunter you might never see signs of rut. 3 out of 5 hunters on my lease saw bucks roaming. We saw 3 does all weekend.

200 acres. 2 people hunt. I've never not been able to see signs of pre-rut or rut. Every year is different tho

I've seem 4 bucks this morning from young to old. No doe's yet, saw my hitlist buck early and he was about 350 yds away. The rut should be going strong by the weekend

It's firing up - I was out on Sat - Mon. Missed my target buck on Sunday evening, he came out early. Shot a cull buck that same evening - 4-5 y/o 5 pts. 4 on right and 1 on right. Young bucks chasing the does like crazy, young 8 cruising the middle of field just looking. Monday saw a new buck driving back to camp at 10:30 AM, super wide 8 point (I think). Body looked like 2-3 y/o.

Thinking this weekend will be a good weekend.

I plan to hunt Friday to Sunday evening. If I don't see a doe I figure they were washed away to the Red a River in the floods. We got plenty of hogs and wish our guys would shoot them.

Pretty slow morning so far, I've seen one young doe and a 3 1/2 8pt come check my decoy out after I grunted a little. All the does seem to be on lock down

Pretty sure in my area of montague the does are on lock down. I've seen 4 dies and 8 different bucks in 4 days.

Been rough past 24. Had some does check out decoys but no bucks. Two does last night and 4 does alone this morning. I have no idea what's going on

In the stand now. This morning had a 3 yo 8 pt chasing a doe at 8:15. Saw 3 more young bucks, spikes and basket bucks. But no more after 10 am. App says peak feeding time is between 2-4:30 today. But this wind is killing me

I hunted Tuesday through Thursday. Saw around 8 different bucks mostly young. Hardly saw any doe, pretty sure the big boys are in lock down mode in the thick woods. Only good activity was in the mornings, didn't see hardly anything in the afternoon. Not a single pug all week, very crazy not to see any pigs at my place.

Hunted this morning and nothing. Went this afternoon and saw 6 bucks and 6 does. No pigs either which is really unusual.

Not much moving in Saint Jo. Did see a doe. Guess I'll give them a break and head home

One deer seen by 2 different hunters. Heard no shots in the area South of Bowie.
