This weekend marked the 6th weekend in a row I got down to the ranch. Fiancé decided this morning enough is enough and I came home to an Epic @ss chewing. She's been a trooper about it.. She loves to hunt but hates the September heat for dove and the bow season skeeters. She forgets next weekend is duck AND rifle opener.

Starting Nov. 8 if you don't hear from me you might consider a search party in the central TX area. eek

Mine has me going to Arkansas for a family reunion next weekend. I was like.....couldn't we just hang out with some local sheep for an hour and call it good??? They're probably cousins anyway...

Well, you tested the limits and now you know where the boundaries are. I've heard when old Italians here a couple screaming at each other they say "Ah, they are making love." I've experienced a few "knock-down-drag-outs" in this 23-year marriage and some t'wernt fun at all.

Happy hunting!

Heck no man, don't give in now! Go next weekend and then the next or else she will wear the pants forever. It only gets worse after you get married so set her straight now. whip

Your mistake is in having a wife that likes you. Mine encourages long hunting trips that keep me away.

sorry to hear of all that.
maybe why i never had a permanent one.
one full time night woman i had sometime
back got all over me about hunting, and i told
her that as long as i was physically able to,
i'd be going at every opportunity to hunt and
fish, and if she couldn't deal with that, one
of us would need to pack up and go now. i know
it's different when married, and won't say any more on it.

good luck to you

When it comes to hunting and she isn't into hunting herself, this is great advice, of course it could mean she has a "steady" on the side when you're gone too roflmao

Ive been married 3 yrs with her for 8, and wife knew that it was an addiction to say the least. Anyhow after careful scrutiny and analysis i have found some very significant information that could help.

1.) always start off by saying "im sorry" when ya get home. We are never back on time from lease, ranch, range, etc.

2.) - follow it by saying EXACTLY this " you know babygirl im not perfect i have my faults and one is this addiction to _______ (guns, hunting, dip), but im addicted even more to you. So i hope you can forgive my shortcomings like i will always do for you, i love you"

3.) Lastly, This works 100% of 93.7% time wink.

By the time i say all that everything is all back in my little world.

Disclaimer this is all bs, i only wish it worked lol. best of luck to ya, shes pretty cool with me and my antics 99% of the time.

I just say I will be gone Friday to Monday now. That way I can leave when I want and get home when I want. The Apple calendar is booked until Feb.

Sounds like time for a new gal. Life is WAY to short to put up with that.

Either way it works out. I do not ask permission I do not apologize for going. There is no reason a woman should be mad that a man is hunting unless she doesn't really feel he is just hunting or she just wants somethin to gripe about and if either is these is the case you got bigger issues than hunting. I've already hunted over 30 days this fall and after 18 years I think she knows there's about 50 more I'll be gone.

My wife is letting me skip Thanksgiving to go on a last minute Alberta Moose and Whitetail hunt.

I'm sure it will cost me twice what the trip is going to eventually. Always/usually a catch involved. I'm sure it will include new furniture and making sure she has a very nice Christmas... She's not a hunter, but loves venison, working on that though.

You aren't in that bad of shape. It sounds like you get to go more than some guys I know, they go through hell to get a single weekend away.
I go every weekend that I want, that is just the way that it is. But I work my butt off during the week and leave no chores undone.
I am lucky that recent years she wants to go out as much as I do.

This is the key, take care of things at work and at home then it's not about asking if you can go it's a matter of telling her when to expect you back!

Years ago, we had a young man on our lease. He hunted every weekend. Then one Sunday he went home and found his wife had cleaned him out. She took everything, including the light bulbs from the ceiling fans. He found a note taped to the bathroom mirror with her lawyers name and number on it.

It's time to either man up and shut her down cold, or start selling your guns. What's it going to be?

Seriously, call the bluff. If she's serious, be sure to hold the door for her, but I doubt she will go that way if she loves you. She'll do it again if you don't shut it down cold right now, and that will completely ruin the joy of hunting for you.

6 weekends in a row is a bit much. Count your blessings and stay home with mamma for a weekend or two

Y'all are crazy if he's spending 6 whole weekends gone and think she doesn't have a say. Y'all are telling me that yall's wife could leave for six weekends with friends away from home and you wouldn't be upset. If it's to that point in your relationships then I feel sorry for y'all. I like spending time with my wife and family, so they hunt with me. Wife doesn't like a whole bunch of hunting but puts up with me dragging her around because like me she wants to be together. I view it like going to a Christmas party with her and her friends, I don't like it but she wants me there with her so I suffer through like she suffers through those cold mornings in the blind with me. I take long trips away without her a lot, but not 6 weekends in a row.

Duckcoach, I don't know your relationship, but bending a little to make your partner happy doesn't make you a pansy or whipped in my book. If it does y'all start calling me a pansy, but I have a happy wife that tries hard to please me in every way, and I hunt/fishing 2 to 3 times a week.

If she's throwing a hissy fit and wants you to give up hunting all together, shave your beard, and start wearing khaki pants then we have a problem.
