Ok I'm hunting in northern wise county the mature bucks have split and I've seen them chasing does also last weekend I was in my stand about 5:15am it was still a while before daylight and I am 99% positive I listen to a decent fight for about 6 min just wondering if I might could slip in the stand today if it's not raining to hard and do a little mid day rattling or is it to early…

If they are chasing and fighting it's time.

Couldn't hurt, if you have a decoy that will help too!

Not too early. Pre-Rut is one of the best times to do so.

Agree with the fellas, I have seen young bucks showing interest in does. I still see older bucks together, but not as often, still doesn't seem like they are traveling much.

Pre-rut is my favorite time to rattle. Bucks are cruising and covering some ground looking for the first sign of a doe that is in. During the peak of the rut when the bucks are locked down with does can be to frustrating. Still works but not as well as the few days priour to the peak of the rut for me.
