Knowing what you know about your current daily use truck, if you could do it over, what would you have bought and why? If happy with current...why?

Base interior and a long bed. Bells and whistles are cool to play with on a test drive, but all you really need in a truck is good A/C and the radio.

What about brands...bought ram, wished you would've bought ford or Chevy. Just an example...nothing wrong with any of them. May be getting a truck soon, always been a ford guy-but like the look of Chevy. I'm sure they are all reliable.

Not a thing honestly, except for trading my '11 for a '15. I've got a 2011 F350 with about 250,000 on it and it still works flawlessly. Gonna keep it until around 300,000 and go get me one of the new body style '17s!

I had a Tundra 1794 for 5 months...my do-over was back to Ford. I did buy a platnium with all the technology stuff...if I had it to do over I would've saved cash and bought a Lariat without the technology...the 360 camera is nice when you get in tight spots but the adaptive cruise, lane departure and parallel parking is as much of a pain as it is nice.

Never would have bought the 6.0 Chevy. Went back with a Ford, and love it.

First new vehicle I ever bought fit all my wants likes and needs... trouble was I bought it shortly before I got married and it didn't fit "OUR wants likes and needs"

Second new vehicle I bought fit all of "OUR needs" but not many wants at all.

Shopping around till I find the right one that fits everything. Im gonna have to compromise and buy an auto though and I don't like it.

I would have bought a MegaCab. Other than that, wouldn't change anything. I've had them all, every brand and trim level. I keep them 3-4 years and use them like a rented tool.

Hated everything about that truck. Everything. It got to the point that it angered me just to see it sitting in front of my house.

Downsized from a silverado 2500 6.0 to the gmc sierra 1500 5.3. Both trucks 4x4, both with 33in mud tires, the 2500 would wax the sierra all over town. I wish I'd stayed with the 3/4 ton. Gas mileage isn't significantly better with the 5.3 but torque difference is huge.

Line X the exterior!

The "Mesquite" pin striping on mine is a little extreme!

I went from a midsize (Tacoma double cab 2wd) to a fullsize (Tundra Texas Edition double cab 4x4) about three weeks ago and I will NOT look back.

Only thing I miss is the gas mileage. Love the Bluetooth and all the other bells and whistles. Tacoma is a great small truck but I needed the room and load capacity in the Tundra. I'm happy. grin

That's a darn hard question to answer. I had a 2001 Dodge 3500 C&C that was a tow beast with a 5 speed and gear splitter, tech a 10 speed. It would pull like crazy all day. It's downfall was that it was a single cab and I often slept in the front seat.

My 2000 Powerstroke replaced the Dodge, it was also a 5 speed with gear splitter but this time a crew cab C&C. I HATED it, he darn gas peddle wore my right leg and hip out. Ended up learning how to drive with my left leg for the long hauls.

Bought a 2002 Stroke from my boss, crew cab 4x4, didn't have it long enough to decide how I felt about it. Somebody liked it more than I did and they stole it.

After I was done with hotshots, I bought a 2004 Chevy 2500HD 4x4. That truck was great and I loved it. Had the 6.0 gasser and got terrible mileage, 12/7, but the inside was so dang comfy. It however died at 61,xxx miles. Miss this truck.

Then I bought a 2008 Powerstroke, CC 4x4, ran like a raped ape. Got terrible mileage, seats were aweful, transfer case broke and left me stranded in Eastland at my lease. Transmission finally gave out at 58,xxx miles. Interior rattled like crazy.

Went completely stupid and bought a 2012 F150, thinking it had the tow rating for what I needed. I WAS WRONG! Hated that truck from the first time I towed with it, which was 3 weeks after I bought it. BUT, it was a great daily driver and an excellent truck off road, saw many many trail rides and went places my Jeep couldn't. Seats were terrible, AC selector motor quit $1200 fox for a $15 part. Head blew a hole in it and dumped all the oil, driver window quit working, rear cargo light leaked inside the cab, and the interior rattled like crazy.

So to sum it up, I loved the interior of the 2004 Chevy, the motor of the 2001 Dodge, the off roadability of the F150.

I now drive a 2014 Dodge 2500 with the Cummins. It has power for days, seats are good but not like the Chevy. I don't have much faith in it. I know it will haul butt and pull what ever I want it to. I just don't expect the interior or body to hold up. But as short as I keep a truck, I figured I'd give it a try.

I also had a 2002 Tacoma, another 2004 Silverado SS with twin turbos. Both of those were just for fun and weren't required to be daily drivers or tow anything.

I know folks think that I am crazy, but I would like to find an older 6.0. My 5.3 Z71 "almost" completely suits my needs, but I would like a stronger suspension and transmission. I only drive my truck when I am pulling something, so fuel mileage is not a big concern. I don't tow anything super heavy - our 27' camper and a filled 16' trailer and a tote of corn in the bed is about as heavy as I get. The Z71's 4L60 transmission just scares me a bit, and the extended-cab, doors-closing-on-doors squeaks drive me nuts!

I do love the locking rear differential, comfortable interior, and reliable engine of the Z71.

Don't get me wrong, I love my new Sierra, but I REALLY loved my 2500. 4.10 gears with the 4L80E tranny. I've seen a lot of ppl bash the 6.0 but that thing would pull anything under the sun. It averaged 12mpg whether i babied it or romped on it and it had torque for days.

If I was going to buy new the main differences would be long bed and a pronghorn bed with suspension to handle it

Wish you could still get a manual transmission and next no pickups will have a key either...

There is a 100hp reduction with a standard trans over the HO engine. You can only get the standard shift transfer case in a tradesman and heated seats were not an option. The ONLY two requests my wife had were no fire trucks (red) and heated seats.

NO ONE offers a standard transmission.
