Buddy invited me and my son to his place for MLD doe hunt Fri/Sat near Sequin on Guadelupe River. Forecast is for 3 or more inches of rain. We would stay in barn up high with campers and satellite. Decisions... The guy was on the Blanco when it flooded and lost their house.

That is a "forecast". Could be more or less rain. If I were you, I would go to have a weekend with my son and even it is raining, you should be able to get in some hunting. You will not regret going and being with your son even if it is too wet to hunt.

I agree, I try never to allow the forecast to determine my hunting plans.

Go. My daughter called about our hunting plans because of the forecast, I was explained that nothing stopping me from hunting every weekend this season. We are going, and will hunt between showers if need be.

Being as dry as it has been, a slow 3" will probably absorb alot before it runs off into the streams and rivers. A fast rain would be bad, but knowing weather forecasters... probably sprinkle and then nothing else.

Go! Either you have a relaxing weekend and get a little hunting in or you'll get to hunt most of the weekend. If it's mld more then likely deer are gonna flood into the fields and such to feed. Have had some great hunts on a rainy weekend. It can be miserable sometimes

Even if you don't get to hunt, you'll get the chance to network with new hunters. That could pay off with future hunting opportunities.

As dry as that country is right now it will drink up 3" of rain and you might not know it rained. I would go, worst case is you have to enjoy watching it rain.

Well,

Based on the current forecast, I would say that it will will depend upon your elevation above the river/low lands......

Trip is postponed. Too much risk of being flooded. River is not something to mess with. My buddy already had his truck interior replaced in the Wimberley flood and house flooded with 6 feet of water. His neighbor drowned. I have been hunting, camping, fishing 8 weeks in a row so will be nice to take a break and lay on the couch. I was supposed to be in a BBQ comp which is canceled as well.

Yeah, catch up on things at home if that is the case.
