So it's taken me 5 years to get a shot at a deer with my bow. And I made an error, my mesh screen was not completly clear of my arrow. I had the screen 3/4 of the way down thinking I would clear it, wrong! 20 yard shot deflected my arrow to the right causing a gut shot. I quickly nock another arrow as she only ran 10 yards away, slightly quartered away, but she had the sickly hunch back and sway. I draw back and let my pin settle, confirm arrow clearance and release. Heart shot. Pic shows the 1st entrance gut shot and the 2nd exit hole. She ran a whole 20 yards after the heart shot. First time getting out this season. She's not a monster buck but it was just as exciting for me to finally tag a deer with my bow.

Congrats on your first kill.
You got lucky this time, but you also learned or I hope you learned a valuable lesson. Always practice out of what you will be hunting in or out. If in a pop up, take a couple shots out of it. If in a tree stand, draw your bow and see if there is a limb or something that will hinder your shot, BEFORE the deer of a life time steps out. wink

Thx everyone. It was very exciting, sad it was the only trip I could make during bow season.

way to stay with it. It's hunting, stuff happens, adapt and overcome. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.
Enjoy the meal!!
