I am in an AR County. Do you think this buck is a legal buck to kill. I believe he is only 2 1\2 years old. I seen him numerous times last year and thought he was injured during velvet. Last year he had a fork horn about 6" tall on one side but the other side was just a 6" long spike that grew out to the side instead of up. I am curious if he would qualify as having an unbranched antler. I also saw him chasing lots of does last year and am not sure I want any more of this genetic. ]alien buck[/url]

No he won't qualify as an unbranched antler on either side from what I can tell. That is not genetic but could be an antler or pedicle injury. Almost all of antlers that appear like this will be injury/damage related. You have any pics from last year or any more from this year?

Does he get hard horned, I've seen it when their nuts don't drop or only have one!

How are you sure it is the same buck? Does he have any identifying markings? Where both pedicles injured?

No way to know for sure but I have never seen anything like him on my place in 30 yrs. I am really just assuming. Last year he did have a red spot like an injury on the side that grew out instead of up. I have lots of pics of him but most are at night. I will try to narrow them down. He is a North Texas deer so I would guess he will be about 150-170lbs at maturity.

First buck could be a stag not dropping antlers and new ones growing the next year. Second and third bucks are pedicle damage.

Are the dates correct? Look for him this year and see if he sheds his velvet.

I'd be really tempted to let him walk for one more year just to see what happens.

Doesn't look legal if in an antler restriction county.
