I have been hunting our family property for almost about 7 years now. I have not fired a shot yet. My wife shot at and missed a crappy 5 point last year and shot a wide 2 1/2 year old 6 point last year. The 5 point was number one on our hit list cause he really needed to go. So far this year I've had 2 bucks show up on camera (in the pictures below and our hunters on the other side of our property shot the one in the third picture. Last year I had the buck in the 4th picture showing up occasionally but he is the biggest oldest buck I have seen on our place in 5 years. I'm really thinking we have horrible genetics and need to do something about it but I'm torn on where to begin so what do yall think??? Should we shoot the bucks in the first two pictures or just keep waiting or what??? The place is 150 acres, on one side is 350 acres and then our neigh or to the north have 750 acres. Hunters on those other 2 places are on the same page as us which is really nice so what do yall think

my 2 cents, if all of you are on the same page, share game camera pictures with each other so that you can see what genetics are in your coop of propertys and then make a group effort in a well rounded management decision

You are not going to change the genetics you have to work with. All you can do is try to let them age to maximize their genetic potential. Only 3 pics loaded for me. The top buck, I would like to see better pics as he appears to maybe have an injury to cause that funky look antler on one side. Also to see his age better. The second buck would need a better pic also but he appears to be young. What is your buck to doe ratio? Do y'all survey to see what needs to taken off as far as numbers? Do you know what your CC is? The last buck appears to be a 5 yr old and a nice buck. While there appears to be a lot of grass, which would indicate a good rainfall year) what has the rainfall been like over the past 3 or 4 seasons? Are y'all shooting any does?
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Have never done a survey. Those are the only two pics of bucks I have this year. That funky racked one I am fairly certain is the crappy 5 from last year. His horns did the same thing 3 on one side forked on the other side. I aged him at 3 yes last year (admittitadly could have been off on age.) Had good rain this year. No one has shot a doe since we've owned the place 15 years ago. Drought hit us pretty bad so we have been trying to recoup the doe population the past few years. However there is one ol girl that may get shot this year. She has figured out the stands. No joke she walks out looks to see if the windows are open and turns around and starts blowing. No joke watched her do it last year

We have the same crappy genetics from the looks of those pics. We started protein two years ago and it with the rain has made a huge difference. Your only option is to group buy a dozen high bred doe and mark them so they don't become sausage.
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

The picture that just looks like a black box is of the one the hunters on the other side of our place shot this week he has 5 points on side and then 2 on the other. Figured he was kin to the buck in the first picture

I hunted as hard as my wife would let me for that big buck last year but never got a Crack at him...I know he lived because our neighbors saw him after the season. Along with a nice 12 that I never saw. I sent him my pics this week. He doesn't have any cameras up right now because something trashed them all
