Was out at the ranch this weekend and these little guys were everywhere. The 4 you see in the road at the top of the picture turned out to be a Covey of 40-50. Going to be a good year!

Fingers crossed. I haven't been out yet.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

We're just west of Throckmorton and the cover is great this year. It was tough to see the dogs sometimes because the broomweed is 3 feet high, but great cover nonetheless. Just driving around setting up deer feeders this weekend, I busted 4 coveys of 30+ birds and 5 or 6, 15-20 bird coveys. They haven't had any rain in 2 months, but there is still great water all over the ranch from the spring deluge. Now all we need is some rain on the wheat seed that went down over the weekend.
