Not sure what to think of this buck. I think he would be a cool buck to shoot but not sure if this is bad genes or an injury. Thoughts?

If its the same deer, its different years. Not hard to have the same notch, but the antlers are clearly different.

I promise this is the same deer. I had about 20 pic of him. These are the 2 pics that show the most of him. The angles show the uniqueness of this buck. The G2 and G3 are in perfect line with each other in the second pic.

Same buck just different angle of the pic. Points are the same and you can't see them all in one vs the other. Each notch is the same and I bet if you had both pics of his right ear you would see it in that ear also. That is an injury related non-typical rack and not genetic.

Look at the other photos and observe his left ear and see if it has full range of motion. It looks droopy in both pics. He may have a permanent injury to the top left side of his head that has injured the pedicle. If it is permanent he may look like that year after year. If not he may look normal next year.

Most bucks that are injured in velvet will be normal the next year. It is the bucks that have pedicle damage that may not ever grow a normal antler on the injured side.
This buck had a velvet injury last year and was back to a normal rack this year.
