I got my bow in 2010 but due to circumstance haven't been able to hunt with it until this year. My son's football schedule prevented me from going this year until now, and even now I'm just going for tonight and tomorrow morning to be back for his game tomorrow night.

Ive been practicing daily for the last month. I've studied their trails into the feedera and I've watched the cams so I know their times. I've washed my clothes in scent cover, I've checked the winds for today and tomorrow and found the perfect blind placement that puts me downwind and away from their trails. I've read countless tips and suggestions on here. I've checked, rechecked and checked my equipment again.

I doubt I'll even see horns but my freezer is looking AWFULLY empty and I already have a nice mature doe picked out. I'll be packing up and picking my dad up in a couple of hours to head to the lease and the anticipation is very exciting.

Do you remember your first trip?

Yes, I remember that first season. Type 2 permit land east of Palestine. No deer, one rainy night flooding the Neches causing me to pack up camp and slip and slide in the red mud back to the road in a 2 wheel drive truck with wide tires on it. I had hung a lock on stand in a tree on the edge of an opening the weekend before and some guy set up a ladder below me. I got there well before daylight and when he arrived about 15 minutes after shooting light he was not happy.

Hope yours is more productive but I doubt it will be more memorable. I just hope they are positive ones.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.
