Yesterday I checked on my Kleberg and Nueces county fields. Looks like the birds have made it down. This last cold front we had really helped us out. We are working hard over the next couple of days to get the fields manicured and ready for our hunters this weekend. I have a couple of fields that have not been cut, we have decided to bail the milo instead of harvesting the milo- which is part of agricultural practice and the best thing you can do to a milo field for dove hunting!

It looks like this is going to be a dry opening weekend, I won't hold my breathe but the weather man says its not going to rain so it must be true.

Im looking forward to opening day, thanks to all the THF members who booked with us this year!

You'll have more birds coming your way at some point, still a lot up here in the Breckenridge area. I just came in for lunch. I'm doing a little more mowing myself...Looking good up

We are VERY excited about this opener. This is the most doves we have had in the last 6 years. This evening I checked 7 out of 12 fields in the Riviera area, all had large numbers of birds.

Bermise- We hunt both morning and evening. These pictures are from my evening scouting trip today. I am heading out in the morning with my guides to scout 13 other fields around Riviera, Ricardo, Bishop, and Alice.

Looks very good for this weekend. up

Scouting Report : 9/17/2015 South Texas Hunting Outfitters

Hit the fields early in Riviera this morning. We looked at 6 fields in area- all milo fields. I found several hundred birds in the area, mostly mourning dove but a few groups of white wing were present. Flights took awhile until the fog lifted but then it was fast and furious. We will be hunting in Riviera, Ricardo, Alice, Woodsboro, and Agua Dulce in the morning. Stay tuned for pictures!

They are planted for commercial harvest. My landowner who happens to be a very good friend of mine decided to bail the outside edges of the field and a couple spots in the field where the grain did not make as good. I had several fields that were planted 3 weeks late due to the amount of rain we had during planting season. All of my corn fields have been picked, and all of my other milo fields have been picked but there is a lot of regrowth.

Sorry just saw this. Yesterday morning mostly everyone limited out. If they did not it was not because of a lack of birds

Yesterday evening we hosted several smaller groups with our largest group being 125 hunters. We had over 100 limits in the Kingsville and Alice area.

We had 5 guys hunting in the Woodsboro area and they all took limits.

This morning we hosted 50-60 hunters (I really can't remember, it's been a long 2 days) - most of them took 10+ birds. Again not because there was a lack of birds.

I will give an update on Sunday as to how this evening goes! This is by far the best dove season we have seen. Looking forward to more great hunts.

The rain has luckily passed us by. We scouted yesterday evening and our birds are still holding. Stay tuned for pics after this weekends hunt!
