I know the success rate of re-introduction is ridiculously small, so that is not my intentions. I want to work my dog this winter on birds but don't have quail land. We have a small farm, about 100 acres that we use to run cows out east of Waco that is in pretty great shape. Native grasses, intersected with a couple of grown up fence lines, couple stands of oaks trees and mesquite patches here and there. IF I purchase birds and release them in groups of 2-3 the night before would those birds hold overnight to be worked the next morning? I could always go the dizzy route, but curious if I could do this with success.

You'll have better control over them if you release them just before training. I've had decent success with using a Johnny House. That's how I got all my training pictures that I've posted on this forum.
There's a NSTRA trial in Giddings in early November. You can take your pup out there and work the leftover birds after the Saturday trial.
Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Without being coveyed up, some predator is likely to get its' supper. Like Bill said, put them out just after daylight and wait about 1-1.5 hours. This gives them a chance to warm-up and put off some scent in the area.
