Hooked the boat up to the truck and was getting things ready for the morning. I didn't want to put the crate in the truck so was going to just put the dog in the bed. Wasn't so sure about it so I used a leash and ran it through one of the bed hooks. Dog hooked up like he knew why he was doing. Son stopped by and walked to the garage. Came back. Dog is gone. Looked all over neighborhood for him. Then I realized the Leash was gone too. Dog is smart but don't think he could unhook and pull the lead back through the loop and then run off with the leash

People are terrible. What area are you located and what breed of dog? People might be able to put word out if they are around you.

I am thinking anti hunter. Dog, truck, camo boat ect. Pretty ballsy reaching into a truck to undo a leash.

I had two Britney pups stolen on Christmas Eve last year. it sucks. There is apparently a big market for pure bred young dogs.

Got a telephone call. Someone brought my dog into the animal shelter. No collar or leash. Saw some kids last night with him but they took off. Homecoming game last night so a lot of kids walking around. Said he could tell the lab was trained so he kept it at his house until today. Very lucky he was chipped.
Got the guys address so I can mail him an appreciation package.

That's great news! I made the mistake of mentioning this story to my wife. She was fully convinced that your Poor pup had been kidnapped and taken into the dogfight underworld. Glad I got to tell her she was wrong.
