I'm pretty sure a bunch got busted up opening morning close to where I was. Some young bucks went way back in the creek to hunt. In the days I spent scouting I didn't see a single teal, but did see a bunch of woodies. Sounded like they had a pretty good shoot!

Usually they don't for sure, but every now and then I'll have one decoy in.

I sure could have gotten my limit of them on Tue morning. Also had a little spoonie that tried to get me to jump off sides. Luckily I noticed that big smile, but he kept asking for it.

Had some wood duck for dinner on Monday. Almost as good as the teal!

No woodies over hear but we did surprisingly have a group of pintails decoy right in our face at LST. Got my heart pumping for sure and ready for big duck season.

I wish you had to pass a duck ID test before you could get your stamps personally. IF you can't ID ducks on the wing, or water, you don't need to be hunting them. I get so tired of hear, "well, I didn't know what it was." If you don't know, don't shoot.

Seconds after a group of pintail decoyed a single BWT came buzzing in. It was on my side so I had a little better look at it. I sat up and blasted it. The other guys hunting with me all said "dude you just shot a big duck!". In their defense it was barely shooting time and I was closer but I knew it was BWT. My dog fetched it and sure enough BWT.

Usually they are both a little better than me at IDing flying birds.

everyone makes an ID mistake from time to time no matter how much experience you have, to say they need to administer an ID test is dumb

I'm sorry and don't mean to rude but that makes no sense and would be terrible for the sport. I refuse to believe that even the most experienced duck hunter out there has identified every duck they've shot before they shot it. If everyone had to take a test just to go duck hunting every year then you would be running off a lot of people looking to get in the sport and possibly run off some duck hunters that have been duck hunting for years.

I'm colorblind and have trouble recognizing birds in flight. I just bring guys with me that can tell the difference and let them call. Of course, we never usually have to worry about being over limit.

Wait wait wait...a duck is not a duck? I thought they were all just various colors from inbreeding?

Last time I checked there was a early Teal season not a early Wood duck season. Rules are rules and I'm not sure why people can't follow them.

Some people just don't get it. See people all the time shooting early, birds out of season, shooting late, shooting at non-game birds. It's people like that that are the problem, and the people that just say it's ok every now and then are no better in my opinion. All of the wanna-be duck hunter that are out there now due to Duck Dynasty and other hunting shows are trying to hunt stuff that they have no idea about, nor can most of them actually id half of the ducks out there flying around. Saw it where we used to live with people shooting 3-4 canvasbacks a day because they were "ducks". I'd rather run off those type of people than encourage them to continue hunting the way they do.
