I picked up a 6'x5' soft tanned buffalo hide just for the sake of room decor, and overall it appears to be in good shape with no hair slipping. What is a problem, is there are areas of the hide that are super soft and thin, and the hide itself will tear easily if pressure is exerted on existing tears. Visually, it is currently masked by the long coarse hair, and I believe it to be salvageable if perhaps someone skilled could perhaps add a felt layer to the underside and reinforce existing tears so that it could be a floor rug or couch drape. I am located in the Tyler to Terrell area, and would prefer someone local if possible. Any one on here (or know of anyone) able to do this and could quote me a price?
