I have a rifle for sale in the classified section and have a few people that are interested in buying it and having me ship it to them directly. I'm in Houston and the interested folks are in other cities I don't have plans to visit any time soon. Having never shipped a rifle before, I am a little nervous about it, even though it seems to be legal. Have any of you done this? Who did you ship through? Any issues? Things I need to know?
Thanks in advance for tips/info. ~George

When shipping a rifle inside of Texas, I would ship it to another FFL local to the buyer, and let that local FFL complete the transfer. If you are shipping it outside of Texas, you will need to ship it from your local FFL, to the buyers FFL. Shipping a rifle is an easy task. Just make sure there is a copy of the FFL paperwork inside the case. I use UPS for all my ammo and rifle shipments, and they are great. FedEx is a PITA, and require ALL firearms to be overnighted, which gets very expensive.

I have shipped them numerous times. Box it up and do not print anything about it being a firearm on the box and send it through USPS. Perfectly legal and easy.

As long as you are shipping it in Texas and not shipping to someone that is not supposed to have a gun it is legal. It is requested that you wrap it so that it is not identifiable.
I just boxed it up and took it to my local postal place and it is just like mailing any other package.
No big deal!
