great bucks
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

What are your thoughts on the cotton seed? Obviously the deer are giants but wanted to hear what Yall we're seeing as far as how they ate it in general and compared to the protein? We've thought about adding it to what we're already doing but weren't sure and haven't found anyone close to supply it. We currently have about 50 acres in food plots and are feeding about 30k lbs of protein a year.

What are your thoughts on the cotton seed? Obviously the deer are giants but wanted to hear what Yall we're seeing as far as how they ate it in general and compared to the protein? We've thought about adding it to what we're already doing but weren't sure and haven't found anyone close to supply it. We currently have about 50 acres in food plots and are feeding about 30k lbs of protein a year. we added cottonseed 4 seasons ago. Our first 3 seasons we went through 48,000 lbs of it. This season we went through almost 100,000 lbs or double what we have been. We stop all feed in mid October and pick back up first part of January. Not sure why the sudden increase in cottonseed consumption as this was a very wet year. One aspect of cottonseed is that it can be placed outside of the protein pens so all size and age deer can get to it including fawns. Our deer have always been strong but we have seen a significant jump in the number of bigger bucks during the past few years. Not sure if it can be attributed totally to the cottonseed but it certainly has not hurt things. Our main source of nutrition has and will always be natural browse - however we try to have as many locations of free choice supplemental feed available. If we were able I would add food plots too but not feasible with the lack of rain. Coupled in with all this is what Navasota said - lots and lots of patience. Not easy to pass on 180 inch deer walking by but we do if he is not age 6 or older. So from our view the cottonseed has been a good addition.
