I'll be hunting in central and south Texas and I'm looking for camo clothing that's not too hot, seems like everything in the stores is for 40 degrees or lower and not cheap. Just trying to get some input. What are yall using?? Hesitant about buying the really cold weather stuff.

I love redhead. They Have nice light weight jackets and shirts but has stuff for the cold to. And we have a bunch of pine trees so the realtree pattern on it is great.

T-shirt and a old pair of jeans I don't mind messing up, same for the tennis shoes. I have a couple thin, cotton long sleeve realtree shirts I picked up at walmart last year, like $5 a piece after deer season. I feel like expensive camo is a waste of hard earned dollars. I've snuck up on a lot of critters in regular clothing. I'd be more worried about what I smelled like, something like an old flannel and jeans from a garage sale shaken up in a bag of neutralized charcoal would be hard to beat. I know a guy that hunts pigs with high powered pellet rifles in Hawaii and he gets unbelievably close, no blinds or bait, just stalk and wait...

A.S.A.T. or whatever you already have should work.
if you're in a blind you can sit in your drawertail
if you have a notion to.
your scent when you're upwind and your motion will
spook deer more than your clothing.

For deer, I really think the camo pattern is the last thing to consider when selecting what clothing to wear for a hunt. For me, the most important factors are:

1. Comfort - warm in cold weather or cool when it's hot; something that won't make you fidget and making you prone to getting busted by movement

2. Silence - I really like hunting in clothing made of silent materials. Like Billy Bob, I also really like the multicam pattern, but I've only seen it available in ACUs which happens to be constructed of pretty loud material. For bowhunting, that's a big issue, but not so much for turkey (shotgun) or rifle hunting.

3. Durability - is the ensemble quality-made? Can it stand up to repeated washings and wear for a few seasons?

If I can find the above qualities in a camo pattern that matches the terrain, great. If not, I feel that the above concerns outweigh the the importance of pattern.

I use light weight merino wool most of the time. Not hot, holds the scent and quite while I am in stand or slipping along.
The quite and scent determines more for me than having a pattern. Besides wool will out last other materials so it ends up being cheaper. Each to their own.

I don't know about that the military's been using it for 1000's of years and humans can't compare to the wildlife we hunt.

I hope i'm not the only one who wears the Academy $7.99 t-shirt special. I do mainly hunt out of box blinds though. I am a fan of Realtree APG when its on sale and made by Under Armour.

I wear what is comfortable for me then put on a leafy wear suit over it. Lightweight and works great.

As long as its not white or blue, I don't think it really matters if you limit your movement. I read that deer can only see the color blue.

If you are concealed in a blind it doesn't really matter. I like to get out of the stand here and there later in the season and back up against trees, brush, fence posts and such. Camo helps out definitely with those hunts, as does a hat that shades the face and I've even started using a little face paint.

Just about any pattern works. Most of my stuff is older advantage or mossy oak patterns with a little milsurp mixed in. If you're outline is broken up and you're still enough they will walk right up to you - unless they smell you of course.

Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

I successfully stalked hogs Saturday morning wearing khaki shorts and a green t-shirt. They didn't seem to mind that I wasn't in camo.

I buy natural gear when I find it on sale. Don't pay full pop for any of it.
