When my pup gets a few months older I'm thinking about sending him to trainer, who would yall recommend? I'm not trying to have the next champion or anything, just a really good hunting dog.

they all have pluses. best thing to do is call each one and see what feels right to you.

Tim Marshall at Brushy Creek Retriever in Royse City has been fair, honest, consistent, and done a very good job with my present Dog.

Which is ALOT more than I can say for the guy that trained my prior pup.

that depends on the dog and what exactly you want. there are lots of steps in training and it just depends on what step you want to stop at. do you want the dog to be able to run blinds and sit and watch 2-3 birds land and they will retrieve them one at a time. (multiples)

I could care less about blinds. I just him to be steady and be able to go get multiple birds.

Skyblaster,
As long as you are sending the pup to a trainer, don't hold off on the blinds. It wont cost any more and it will come in handy if you shoot ducks or doves. Help that pup be all he can be ! You wont be disappointed!

Save your breath calling, go out there and watch each of them train dogs.
