Wich do You prefure ? Ecaped HF Hogs that yagh threw some corn out & they come a runnen... Or... Wild Hogs were ya gotta go ta them.... My first hog hunts were on lease... Less than a buck a day, chance ta hunt hogs 24-7-365... Deer season, like most, sat in stand, & wait, chance for deer or hog ta & chill... After deer season, did the caveman hunt.. pistal on hip, flash light off, wait by fresh hog sign of them rooting up... Hogs usualy make some noise, whin feeding... Then ease twards em ta pistal range... The other leases were on, didnt have hog's.. So down by creek , put little food plot & pvc corn feeders, took few hogs... WMA openef up down Rd.. Did archery, deer&hog hunts, no baiting... Then the three months after deer season of all legal meens hog hunts... Those & caveman hunts were my favoret.. huntsolo 90% of time... Just not able too like in better days.... Best wishes ta all on upcoming hunts...

I like sitting in the stand. Where we are its to thick to sneak up on them and if there is more than one the odds really are not in your favor.

cool, you rely on your trap for majority of hog control ? Been in some thick stufff... Took my Kentucky .45 on hunt at WMA heard hogs in thick undergrowth, got within pistal range, but rifle, specialy & kentucky is not best for manuvering in thick stuff.. next day went back with my .44 cal black powder revolver ta smoke em out... Again in right place right time, unfortunatly, hogs seen were on a trail been brushhogged & had wrong weapon.. Been using cam here ta monitor & then throw out corn... Not as in good a shape as usdta be in me 40's... Best wishes on trap... Seen were on one thread. Day OP gonna set trap, hogs didn't show.... As experts say they'll be back

Colt.45, what's with your two posts in this thread, it's almost like two different people wrote them....first one was scattered and full of typos and grammar issues, second one was almost normal fluent English....almost like you try hard to sound redneck when you really aren't as redneck as one would think.... Maybe ur brain wasn't ternd on as gud in the murnin as it wuz fur the secnd post??

Your not first, nor last ta say something bout my grammer... Again... Got held back in first grade, slow reader, not best... You know how kids can be, so am used ta being laughed at made fun of... When hunting i like ta enjoy myself, same when working... Hear enough about haw bad times are... Again, my hummer might not be worth then i dont get payed for that... even called a terrist ... Put this on Open discussion, cause like deer hunting, some are more inta racks, big bucks, they post threads people can give their opinions, just currios as topic say's... Its just simple thread..

Colt.45, don't take this as an attack on your grammer! I was just pointing out your posts on the this thread seemed a little different, as if written by two separate people. First thought was a little too much of the bottle early in the morning, but didn't want to accuse you of doing anything like that. Then thought it might be you were just foggy in the morning sometimes like I am, I need more sleep all the time it seems. Then I thought maybe you were working through the android and it wasn't giving you any help as I know sometimes I have typos and bad sentence structure when I am typing on my phone. Then I thought maybe pappy just told you to write the way you talk, since I tend to do the same, and I think that's the best answer...maybe. either way, keep up the good work and keep after them hogs. As they always say, they'll be back, and so will we.

Kinda what they doing with the NV & thermal hunts... They got large areas ta hunt, i did mine iin day light, hitting thick out of the way area's... took more videos than shooting em.... Enjoyed it, while i could... It put on the ....

Colt I enjoy your post bud...I can usually read them pretty easy so not sure what that says about me ...I enjoy driving the back roads where I live and spot them eating crops and get out and sneak up on them. I've got permission to hunt most of all the fields so when I know the hogs are hitting the farmers fields I usually ride around every evening looking for them. Once again I'm gonna state that I have permission to hunt these fields so I'm not road hunting nor trespassing. Just drive around till I find them then sneak up on them and shoot.

I have a lease that unfortunately is too far to hunt a lot, especially when those dang skeeters are thick, but also has only very sporadic hogs on it. Best way my son and I like to hunt those pesky hogs is by spotting them with thermal gear and stalk up to them, then shoot as many as possible. Rarely get the opportunity though, fun when it comes together. Have shot a hog from a blind once, but during deer season. During non-deer season, it is take em anyway we see em. My son and I really enjoy hunting hogs, getting up close and personal with them in the night when they can't see us but we can see them, never had any hogs come regularly enough to hunt from a blind or sit and wait for them, always sporadic showings. Dang toys make it fun, I would imagine doing it they way you (colt.45) used to sneaking up with a pistol in the dark was a good cardio workout, nothing gets the blood pumping more than being real close to wild hogs.

My absolute favorite is a tree stand in the middle of the woods in the middle of the night. It goes from quiet to the sound of hogs and no light. I enjoy the thermal hunts but not as much adrenaline.

My favorite way is when you accidentally run into them .. whether it's walking to the blind or driving down roads.

pud-in lots of hours & days archery hunts at WMA over rooted up out of way areas in chain on stands with lader sticks, several times had ta tie my self ta tree, & climbers... can see movement at good distance.. Never had hog get in range few were close.. Stalked with-in bow range several times, but because of shoulder problems, way too much movement drawing back.. Videoed few hogs, & one easrd right up close enough ta grab.... Slow walks gotten within yards of hogs, fast action, why most shots are heart lung bigger target area, been real lucky... Getten to old ta huntsolo last several years been more videoing... Every one has favoret way... Best wishes, safe hunten... Enjoyed reading all posts...

Since the bastages tear up my creek bottom, fences and anything else they want, I just hunt them anyway I can.
I always carry a rifle or pistol while on my 4wheeler around the ranch so if the opportunity presents itself....
When we are doing contract eradication, we usually cruise around on very quiet 4wheelers as we cover 1000's of acres. We have help on other 4wheelers with radios, GPSs and trailers as chase vehicles to haul them out.
I sometimes stalk but my 60+ YO legs and back don't like that so much any more....makes the 4wheeler a welcome addition....LOL!
I do most of my serious hunting to give meat to friends from a tall box blinds setup 100 yards from feeder.
I also have some best Buds with very well trained dogs that is an absolute pump to do. Probably my favorite as it's a hands on experience and fast and furious some times!
And reading Colt.45s posts is always entertaining!

know what ya meen bout aches & pains, tis nothen ta laugh at... At OSBWMA walken around was easy part, good thearopy, get off ATV trails, go at own pace, nice & slow, person be supprised what ya miss on ATV... High-tech is nice, faster is better.. If had ATV could get back out ta areas were only the people like me will venture on foot... Sure would beat back-packing hogs out... backstaps, quarters.. When ya huntsolo i stink, work up that sweat, its a jungle out their... Your body will deturmine weather ta shoot or not... WMA has limited months ta hunt, as far as i know no night hunts for hog's, comepared ta surrounding privet land were its 24-7-365 pressure, so if ya know were ta look, & do your homework, can be some great hog hunten... Had several videos in public hunting section... No were near as high-tech as videos of NV & Thermal videos, enjoy watchen em, they make it look so easy.... Even on bad days like taday, makrs ya wanna jump up & go... ya'll keep after em, they'll be back... Safe hunten...

Me and my boys hunt an area that is archery only. Hogs of course are all nocturnal there. Too thick to try and stalk them when he hear them. We've tried many times and there's just too many sticks etc, making it hard to be quiet especially since it is at night. We hand throw some corn and wait. We hunt way more than we kill, but it is a blast!! Hog hunting with a bow without a feeder is definitely hunting!!

Let me know, got a .44 black powder pistal that can do the job have gun will travel ... It make a cool video... Had a hog put a bluff charge on me, tried ta take video, on cell phone, was on it with daughter whin happened, it was cheap phone, she ws talken me threw it when hog charged again, i grinned my teeth, & it & others turn an ran.. Other time shot at hog, it spun, & charged at my feet, had ta side step ta keep it from knocken me down... Wounded cornered hogs & ones with little ones can be dangerous... Hog hunten, the other wild game, It is a BLAST ... Stay Safe....

am suprised no responce from the guys with NV & Thermal... For those on tight budget, when they opened up WMA, down the road ya couldn't beat the $40.00 permit hunts... With the 24-7-365 hunting pressure on surrounding privet land, the WMA was a hot spot... Like leases price did go up, yet $48.00 permit, ya cant beat... Have had great success...

Mine is bow hunting, middle of the night, full moon and sitting up in a tree. To much enjoyment listening to all the night noises, while patiently waiting on them loud arse hawgs when they meander through.

My favorite type of hog hunt is one in which the hog runs to the roadway and drops there. I like it when I can just back the truck up to the hog and don't have to haul it hundreds of yards over up-and-down terrain. If I could just convince my wife that we should operate on a "I kill 'em and drag 'em in, you skin 'em and cook 'em" basis, things would be perfect. However, back here on Planet Earth . . . --
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.
