Now thats high-tech, Auto gate trap... if had the money, & hog problrms like one in lower picture... Would go with a spring loaded type door.. whin hogs get corralled, bar pulls back & door slams shut.. Then i'm not an expert...

I have that exact door in another section. I still use it but hate all the pictures I have of the pigs who won't go in after a few get caught. Sure you catch some pigs but you train some too. This trap allows you to wait and drop the door when 100% of the group is inside.

Oh I gotcha. This is a remote solenoid(sp) that attaches to a clasp like on a backyard gate, you text the camera which relays to the gate, moving the solenoid and dropping the guillotine style gate.

Have swinging gate opens inta trap.. Funmel panels on out side... Feeder farthest away from door.. Cam ta monitor... Remote ta shut gate, hogs inside will settle down... Still got feeder.. Have 55gal. water trough.. Other hogs could still push door open if spring light enough.... i got cheap posts... on last post... en size.... Best wishes...

Theirs good chance the hogs will be back... When blew it trying ta get video of laser-tag hunt, had ta stand up ta see hogs, laser was bouncing off tall weeds, didnt shot, hogs took off... Cut thin shooting lane, let things calm down... They came back ta corn.. Night went out the hogs were already their.. Didnt get chance ta video & didnt use laser.. en & chillen... Ya got the pics of hogs in trap, so they are comfertable, just keep feeding... if some one else doesnt choot-em they should be back.... Again, nice trap...

CaveManRancher what is the brand of release mechanism/camera are you using. I am looking to get one. It is a M.I.N.E trap built by jäger pro out of Georgia I believe. It's expensive but if you really want to control pigs and get them all its the only way to go. Unless you have the knowledge to build it on your own.

We fought fire all afternoon, got to town about 945, hadn't eaten since 1030 that morning. Start down the highway for home and 1015 get a text from the camera, pigs in the trap. Sent it the code to close, nothing..... I'm betting the battery isn't holding a charge. NExt time I'm down there I'll charge the battery and test it during the day. Guess this is getting all the cobwebs off since I hadn't used it in a year.

If you have a blind within range of the trap, you will be amazed what you can do with a multichannel car alarm/security system. When coupled with door poppers and relays, you can spin your feeder, drop your gate, operate lights, etc. all from the remote. And they are pretty cheap on ebay and if you position the antenna wire properly on the alarm they can have a 200 yard range. A simple 12v deepcycle battery with solar panel and you are GTG.

yeah but with this system, when it is working properly, I can shut the gate from anywhere I have cell service and I also have a remote for your blind scenario. I live an hour from this ranch where the trap is. But yes, if I keep having issues I will do exactly that

Yeah but I's poor... I can implement the auto alarm with multiple channels and build the gate for a LOT less than buying one autogate. When the autogate works, it's magic. When anything goes wrong...
I would check or replace the battery first - it takes a pretty good amp surge to trip the soleniods. Taking ans sending pictures also slowly pulls amps out of the battery. Next, I would check the soleniod catches themselves. If it has been sitting in the weather, the mating surfaces may be rusty and need polishing so they move easily - the weight of the gate is sitting on these. A dab of good grease in this area works wonders. You might also try relocating the control box or antenna to help it communicate better - there is a certain amount of internet lag between taking the pic, processing the pic, sending the pic, then you receiving the pic. It's also quite a few hops between your phone and the trap so you need good communication. Know when the feeder goes off so you can be watching for it!
Hope you get it worked out soon....and we need pics when you do!

I just bought a cellular activated trap myself. I put it up this weekend and notice I am having a hard time seeing the pictures at night. I put the camera just outside the trap looking in towards the feeder and the gate. During the day it works fine but at night the reflection off of the wire makes it hard to see into the trap. It looks like one of your pictures you have the camera elevated pointing down in to the pen. Does this work pretty good for you? or what has worked for camera placement?

Yeah. Mine is on a 10 ft tpost. Works great. I'm sending my camera off Tuesday. Hopping that fixes my issue.

Thanks I'll give that try. Have you had much luck lately catching any? I had about 20 coming in pretty regularly and I set my trap on Friday and haven't seen them yet. I do have one big boar coming in but won't go in yet.

I had a group of 8 coming in, had my rooting gate set there, 4 went in and 4 stayed out, raising the gate to let them out. Built my big trap and that's when I found my issue. As soon as I get it resolved I'll be back to trapping. Small hiccup but still a very effective method.

That's the way, nice going! Those traps are what it will take to stay on top of the hog population issue, only draw back is the price most folks are unable to afford. If you can get a local group to go in on one of them, it sure will save a lot on cash from one owner and trapping more areas than around your place.
Congrats on the entire sounder.
