I have one mounted on my 300 BO AR using a 30mm Burris PEPR QD mount (reversed to move the scope closer to my eye). I am very pleased with its performance and it is a total game changer for hogs and predators. It's good to over 100 yards, but I generally shoot at 50 or less. If using the onboard IR, you will open the lense cap fully of course, but when using a more powerful IR, pop out the inside 22mm portion of the lense cover and close the cap. Focus/clarity is much better this way.

The Photon is an excellent entry level night vision scope and with a UNV 20iIR or a Evolva T20 it is good out as far as I care to shoot at night. It's simple to use, instant on, easy on batteries and you can get an optional recorder if that floats your boat.
Great bang for the buck, just check out the reviews anywhere on the net ( Amazon, Optics Planet, BPS etc)

I just recently shot a coyote @ 210 yds with my Bmag and the Photon 4.6 and a T20. All I could see was eyes but we'd already identified the target with thermal.

Very nice and nice shot! Check out this one. This is one I shot a few weeks ago with an earlier version of my homemade unit.

Yes I am using an aftermarket light. Its the same as the unv-20ir. And there is a center tab I take out of the scope cover on the front. about the size of a dime/penny. seems to help with clarity quite a bit.

I've been watching a lot of your videos and your progress on all your builds. Pretty neat how you pieced them together and did it all. What does that newest one cost to put together?

Well.....uhhh...normally I would have no problem posting that but I have had multiple requests by people to make more and sell them one. I am finishing the instructions etc and have sold 2 units. So basically I am at the point that I hate to divulge my costs. I will say this, I am over $200 but hope to lower costs as ( if ) quantities get higher .

Between me and two friends we own 5 photons and one gen 3. For stand hunting I don't see how you can go wrong with the photon. Buy an Evolve T20 for about $50 and you can shot as far as you will need too.

The gen 3 is used just for spotting the pigs.
The photons are the kill sights.

No way we could justify decking out 5 rifles with $2500 nv. But it was easy to deck 5 rifles with 5 $500 Photons.

Just my two pennies.

I have a Photon XT and I was very impressed. Like others have said you can see a long ways with the UNV IR. I have used it hog hunting a couple times and could easily identify animals at 250 yards. I also added the doubler which makes the magnification around 9x which really helped to see further out.

I think it is the best bang for the buck NV scope available.

I have one and have hunted with it for about a year now. I am very impressed with it. I also own the previous model. I still use it on my spare rifle. I have to agree that it is the best bang for the buck. Next possibility is the digisight, but that is another price level. You can't go wrong with the Photon XT. I also own a thermal monocular that I spot with. Both units have produced a lot of dead coyotes for me.

I've recently bought one and am very pleased with it. Also running an aux. illuminator. Only problem I have encountered is limited adjustment - zeroed using all the elevation adjustment in a Burris AR PEPR mount without shimming.

I encountered the same issue with a similar mount and ended up shimming it to get past the adjustment limits in Y. X never was much of an issue. I figured it was a problem with the mount. It wasn't too hard to shim to where I needed it to be. Coke cans make nice shim material.
I've found that a T-20 works well for illumination. I often don't even need that. The on board illuminator works pretty well for me. Only issue is the reflection off near brush that any illumination is going to give you. It is best if you can find a light that has a really tight focus to avoid lighting up all the brush around you.

I've had one for over a year and it's a great scope for the money. The only thing I don't like is the eye fatigue/strain if you look into the scope for an extended timeframe.

I too had to shim the the photon xt with the pepr mount. Doesn't seem to affect accuracy one bit.

I have the 6.5 Photon XT and a Pulsar N750. I like the Photon XT better and it was half the price of the N750.

I have a Photon and went to sight it in at 100 yards a couple of weekends ago at the lease, during the daytime, and couldn't distinquish the target. Anyone else have this issue? I bought it mostly to use at night, but was disappointed in the view during daylight.

The solution to that is to use a scope cover with a small hole in it. It blocks a lot of the light and lets the scope work better in the daylight.

Mustanger is correct. During the day keep the lens cover closed.

And there is 2 focus knobs on it.

As far as a target. Instead of using a standard target, I made one in excel. All it is, is black blocks about 2 inches wide by 4 inches tall. I put 2 per normal paper size spread out. And instead of aiming at the center of the black target, aim at the corners of the blocks. Its easier to hold the cross hairs on the edge. Hope your following me.
