Pup will have surgery Tuesday. About a month recovery. Also a nice vet bill.

And how did the injury occur?

Rehab the dog well, there's an 80 percent chance of the other one going as well.

During training. Ran a bumper and just started showing signs, favoring that leg and such. The vet said a pup this age does not normally have this kind of tear but it does happen

Rehab for sure. He said 4 weeks.

What the doc tells me to. Just like I would if it were for myself. Dog deserves that much.

Which surgery are they doing?

No kidding!! 4 months,,, not 4 weeks. chances are you will need the other knee done in the future.

I am really sorry to hear about your pup. I am sure they will get her up and going. She won't make this season but thats alright, there are many more seasons behind this one. So while you're out in the water picking up your birds would you be so kind as to get mine since you are already out there? confused2

Pup is finishing up FF. Doing low impact retrieves in water. Just wondering if I should bite the bullet and get some insurance in case she blows the other knee out???

man that stinks but others are right. i had the surgery done on a dog several years ago and it was crate for 2 mo then only walking for next couple months then they did water therapy for a month before she could even start to think about running. the other one blew 6 mo later.

Met with the surgeon a few weeks (month) ago and he said she was doing great and gave the go ahead for water retrieves.

I guess I'll go ahead and get the insurance because it was a pricey surgery and everyone is saying that the other one has a strong chance of going out also. She has a super strong drive so that scares me as far as the knee goes.
