That's very good news Sachal.

Yup good news but, from reading into it , it may be a few updates down the road before it get fixed. They have made good forward progress so far.

Sachal -

Can your team add an option for "startup magnification".

It is a possible work around to having the reticle centered and could improve function of the scope for hunting applications.

The user can select 1.25x as the startup magnification and when the scope is powered up it adjusts to the entered amount automatically and guess what, the reticle always appears centered and the user doesn't have to touch the zoom to get a quick shot off.

Yes Ben, that is possible but would most people be OK losing some FOV just to have the reticle centered? If your reticle is relatively within the 1st quadrant of your screen, does it really matter that much to have it dead centered. Digital scopes tend to have this minor shift in reticle.

The beauty of the idea is those who are fine with an offset reticle and who want max FOV can leave the startup magnification at 1x (default) and they experience no change in functionality.

Just my 2 cents

good point. I know it is doable bcz we talked about it but decided not to do it. Ill run it by the team again.

As long as it's an individual choice, I say OK. However, I know that I sent my 5-18X back because the FOV was too narrow for my purposes. I now have the 3-12X and FOV is much better.

I would go with fixing the mag at startup. Mine is just off centre at 7.5 which would suit me too far off at start.

well I finally give up, asking cabelas to refund my money and I will look at the sightmark 4.6 for a replacement.

or Sachal, if you read this will atn refund me if cabelas won't? I am past the 90 day return window since I keep waiting for updates to make this scope work right.

not holding my breath.

Hopalong,

As someone that owns both the X-Sight and the Sightmark Photon, I can sympathize with your frustration with the X-sight, if you decide to go over to the Phonton you will not be disappointed with it's nighttime viewing, it blows away the x-sight, it's also simpler to operate, basically turn on and your ready to shoot. Daytime viewing a different story, but I didn't buy it for daytime use. I got some high-end QD mounts that return to zero and switch between my daytime scope and the Photon for nighttime use, this seem to work well for my hunting situations.

Good Luck.

Has anyone heard anything about a new firmware release? I haven't heard a thing.

no and that is why I want my money back, taking way to long to fix even the basic functions.

either cabelas or atn will refund me by fri. or I send my complaint in to the atty. gen. for consumer fraud, have given them over 4 months to fix the firmware and still they won't even answer emails.
got a response from atn that it is up to cabelas to refund but since I have been getting strung along with the proverbial "update out soon" lie I am over the 30 days. I have explained to both what I will do and after next monday a formal complaint will be in austin.

it is one thing to have a problem and work it out but you keep those affected informed and up to date, atn has failed miserably on this.

Yes, this was posted on 5/28/15, and I've been patiently checking this thread every afternoon. Thought about posting a few times, but thought I would wait one more day.

I'm brand new to night vision, so I'm beginning to wonder if I should send the 3X12 back as well and just go ahead and bite the bullet on a Pulsar Apex 50 something or other for $3000.00

I'd have to sell a couple of guns to justify it, but I'm beginning to understand the frustration that some have had.

Store credit ?

Cabelas has always excelled at providing options with proof of purchase and all parts accounted for, a refund may not be possible but it seems like credit would be an option.

Honestly, I'm starting to think the same. I bought a HD19A monocular for scanning and after using that, looking through the x-sight is downright painful. Even when focused, the IR is lighting up the tall grass so much that the rest of the picture dims and I can't see what I'm trying to aim at. I really wish it would just use the crosshair to set the exposure...

I looked at that same unit at the gun show Sat. If I hadn't already spent a bunch, I was awful tempted...

For the price of the scope, My X sight is exactly what I expected for a new digital day/night scope with it's features.
While some of those features are missing or buggy, I don't think it's worth the time spent complaining to the overburdened deaf ear of the AG.
Usually burning large amounts of gunpowder clears my mind and makes me forget about such things.
By then, ATN might come out with a better firmware version and I get to burn more gunpowder.
To me, It's good to know that ATN is trying to get the bugs out.
That's a lot more than I've gotten from other products that make my ATN purchase look minuscule.
Onto the photon. I practically gave my photon away. I thought it was worse than my X sight. Day and Night.
Others have had far different experiences with their photons and X sights than I've had.
Pulsar makes a great product.
I'm looking for an updated 3x X sight to keep on my Air rifle.
I'll pay a reasonable price.

but I need another night vision scope as I use mine for work, guiding night pig/coyote hunts, and cabelas does not carry the brand I have decided on, for this reason I am asking for a full refund due to the scope not being as advertised.
there has been no disclaimer from atn about the features that are currently not working, nothing about firmware problems but rather the ads are all touting geotagging, compass, speedo, etc. etc.
when you keep advertising a product that you know is not working as advertised it then becomes fraud and for the 1,000.00 I have invested in this scope I expect the basics to at least work, they do not.

I was just talking to a guy that got a replacement scope, helping him with settings, he has V277 in the scope, so why isn't this on ATN's site?

That's a good question. Mine came with V253 IIRC, but 266 was already out. Any chance of getting that recorded and posted for reference, so we can all see it?

Why did he get a "replacement" scope?

He is in Texas, I'm in New Mexico, so can't view it to see what changes there are.

He originally got a 5x, can't remember what was wrong with it, funny thing is he sent that back a few months ago, so he called and asked what's up, they shipped a replacement, but they sent a 3x, what the hell? Supposed to ship him out the 5x, but he had to show them a receipt geez.
