Got the same runaround from GM with the last Chevy I owned that I bought new in '01. That thing spent about half the time in the shop the first year I owned it and nothing ever got fixed, namely because of stuff that they needed to "see" first. Worst service I've ever experienced. It got towed out of my garage on the third day.

Last time I've owned any GM product. That and the bailouts just solidified I won't ever own one again.

I've always been a Chevy man. My now ex wife's Tahoe & my Sister's Tahoe had nothing but problems with them from the day they drove them off the lot. Handles falling off the doors, mirrors quit working, bumper cover falling off, leaking reservoir tank for the windshield wipers, cubby hole on the back of the drivers seat fell off all within a week of buying a $40,000 vehicle. After the bailout BS it is obvious IMO that they just don't make them like they used to. Built cheap & overpriced to pay for their government loan I guess, very disappointing. I just bought a new FORD truck, first Ford I've owned since High School.

Yep. Being mild mannered and patient typically will get you run over in auto service depts.

If you think that is bad ask them what the acceptable rate of oil burn is in a truck. My girlfriend just had here oil pump replaced under warranty I I told them it was burning some oil. The service guy said that chevy says that it is okay if the truck burns 1 quart of oil every oil change..... I have a bunch of trucks and over 50 pieces of Heavy equipment plus countless other machines with engines, and nothing that I have burns any oil not even a little. Unless something is wrong with the motor.

I now drive a dodge....

Walter

I'd say a quart per oil change is pretty normal. The max chevy says is allowable is more like a quart per 1,000 miles. At 1 quart per oil change most people just think their vehicle doesn't use oil, because unless you check it you wont ever know its a quart low and no lights will come on.

Heard a rumor from a co-worker that the new caddys burn 2-3 quarts within one oil change and this is supposedly normal according to the dealer. confused2

Just picked it up and the service rep had a hard time making eye contact with me, service manager walked up and said this policy has been around for a few years GM had so many vehicles coming in with small leaks that they had to change the policy and that the leak wasn't significant to repair. Sooooooooo they put dye in the system and if it leaks with the color blue bring it back in an they'll repair it. All I could say was this is BS, I'm def going somewhere else and contacted someone through GM to confirm this stupid @&" policy!

This is up top, big plastic tube look at the end of the blue hose to the right you can see where I wiped it off

This is the bottom in the bumper next to the fog light

Txkiller, in the back of your owners manual there should be a representative in your area to contact. It probably won't do any good but at least you can start walking up the ladder.Tell them you bought the vehicle and the warranty in good faith and you would like GM to honor the warranty that you paid for.

Sounds like a good idea, may find some leaks that previously weren't notice as well. Interesting to know though, I didn't know they had dye for oil, just tranny.

Yes sir, didn't know that until 3 weeks ago while standing in line at ORiellys, they had recharge cans with dye next to the counter.

Bet you're right, they didn't sell it so they don't want the piddly warranty work.

EDIT, You should see if Bruce Lowery will give you some ammo to complain to GM on your previous dealer visit.

We had a customer last summer buy a 75th anniversary 389 Peterbilt it was decked out! When he picked it up personally he inspected it and found a scratch on the rear frame by the 5th wheel, guess what we did we "fixed" it while he was in Denton shopping when he came back he left the plant with a smile that's customer service damn it!!!!!!!
