All,
Got a bad news...
Sorry but got a little bad news.
Unfortunately the sunshades will only work with current production X-Sight 5-18 units. If you really see the need to the sun shade, let me know and I will arrange an exchange for you. Please be advised that current lead times for X-Sight 5-18x units can be 30 to 45 days, as the new batch is being thoroughly tested. If you are interested in proceeding with this exchange.
On behalf of ATN I apologize for the miscommunication regarding the sunshade accessory. If you have any further questions, please let me know. Thank you!

After reading every single post and watching this forum for the past 30 days in regards to this reticle fix, my patient has run thin. I am a dealer in central PA stuck with a unit that I use demonstration purposes to sell ATN products but because the manufacturer has failed, this unit sits in the corner. I appreciate everyone's input and I find it interesting that there is more info on the x-sight on a Texas Hunting forum then on any other sight. SachalATN, if I can get the latest beta firmware up I would appreciate. I am trying not to give up completely on ATN...

X-Sight Manual
Don't you just love these guys! How long have we been using this sight? Now they produce a manual! It is a Beta version. (Couldn't resist. I've been being good.) Mike

How do we make it happen? Is this going to be a complete exchange or just modification to the ocular housing? Thanks

All, I just want to make sure I clear up this misunderstanding. The only difference between the new batch of 5-18x is the threaded lens housing. If you think there are any other internal or hardware changes, that is not accurate. Please see the pictures below between the OLD housing New hosing

Sachal the customer service is not that great. (Just stating how I feel) Every time I've tried it's always and vicious circle for me. When I had to return my scope for the sd card not seating right after several emails with zero response from ATN. I had to go back to the company I bought my scope from to get answers. Do you have a direct email or phone number to someone that is aware of the situation at hand.

one thing I am still confused on is the image stabilization, where is it in the menu or is it?
how do I find it to turn on/off or can it be found? Hopalong...I don't think it is something that can be turned on or off. With the firmware that is being tested now the sleep function is turned back on when the rifle is moved. This makes me believe it is always on. Very nice to have this and it works.

I was out to the cabin last night for some testing, fired about 30 rounds with caliber .308W and 30 rounds with 9.3x62 (with a Sound Moderator mounted, for lower recoil). Scope holds zero perfect at all tested magnifications, no power loss due to recoil, one thing though, scope lost focus a few times at mag. 7.5X in both calibres

Sachal, how do we go about this? Are you going to issue us an rma, or is atn going to send out a scope that is compatible with shade along with a shipping label to return old scope?? This is how is should be for all the bull we have been through because I do not want a new scope that is worse than my current one. So Sachal what do you say send us a new scope with a return shipping label and give us time to make sure the new one is just as good or better than our original???????

MGP...was the problem you had not being able to see the coyote caused by the dimming?

My fathers Photon XT you can see everthing my X-Sight is like tunnel vision but dim in the tunnel that I can see. Also It seems to focus on object closer to me and I can get past them its really weird like I said my Fathers Photon just make everything visible and you can see perfect.

I appreciate the reply SachalATN. If you can send me a download link to info@highvelocityfirearms.com I would appreciate it. Right now any beta has to be better that .228. Thanks!

You will find that any firmware prior to v .228 will have better contrast. As for the reticle shifting you will need to either shim the scope under the base as discussed here or if your just demonstrating it dont adjust the x&y. Just let the customers know up front what is going on. Ive heard that with the beta that corrects the shifting reticle but the contrast is still the same. Also I have heard that the contrast will be fixed in the upcoming final release. Biggest thing is to be honest with your potential customers.

Please see the pictures below between the OLD housing New hosing Ok, so the older units have coarse threads and the newer ones have fine threads. Just out of curiosity what was the thread pitch on the older units?

I don't suppose there are any commercially available sunshades that fit the old "threads" since that was not the intent of their design.
I have gotten certain photographic filters to thread into the objective of my manual focus 3x, but others don't have a long enough threaded section to grab. It sounds to me like, if you want the shade, your only option is probably to do an RMA.

Yup, I already got my RMA and shooed mine out this morning. 45 days is what I'm told turn around is. Thankfully I've been too busy to go hunting so I can live with out it for now.

Moved in to 25 yards, finally zeroed at X = 94 left, Y = 64 down - pretty far off center. - Closest I can zoom is about 3.0x - 4.0x digital zoom, before reticle goes off the screen
Moshooter,
I also had a similar zero cordinates. my X = -50 or something like that. Many people on this forum had issues with loose screws, so I took my x sight apart to check mine. (three screws not two) I did not have this issue but while I was there already, i loosened the screws enough to free the scope from the rail clamp. Then I put pressure on the scope and clamp to turn it towards scope centre. In my case i the scope need to point more to the right. Then tighened the screws again. With this technic I was able to get my X value to +9.

That's actually good news, that it can be 'shifted' a bit in it's mount. I didn't relish the idea of having to shim it with strips of soda cans. I will say I'm not surprised. I had to do the same thing with the included IR Illuminator, which was off-axis by about 1.5º, so it stands to reason the scope might be similar. The units are manufactured in China, so let's face it, there's no reason to expect the assembly crews to be terribly careful. So long as the parts are machined properly, and there's sufficiently loose tolerances to adjust for sloppy assembly, it is tolerable. I should note that I have done some testing with both the .200 and .228 version of the firmware...and I don't see a lot of difference in contrast in Night mode. Now, when I was out shooting, it was about 1400 hrs, and I was shooting toward the sun, and the target was in it's backboard's shadow. The Sun shade on my 3-12x worked pretty well, but the sight was constantly auto-adjusting the contrast up and down in a sort of flicker, to compensate. It didn't really bother me, and the picture was still very clear and easy to see. I just thought I would mention it.
