The "Muck Boot" conversation reminded me of a pair of boots I had as a kid in Louisiana. EVERYBODY had a pair, and wore them for EVERYTHING...fishing, coon hunting, trotlining, running traps. I've been looking to see if they're still available but have yet to find a pair.

They were rubber boots, knee high, olive green with a thin yellow stripe at the top, and red soles (not "red" red, think recoil pad red). What made them great was that right at the bend of the ankle there were three sets of eyelets for laces that got tied and tucked inside a gusset. You could tighten those laces and the mud wouldn't pull them off your foot. You could also run in them if needed. Has anyone seen these since about 1969?

I very very vaguely remember those.

The white boots have taken over now.

I remember them, and no I haven't seen them in many years either. Like you, wore mine everywhere, fishing, hunting, exploring, etc. They were the best, and looking back, I can't remember them cracking or springing a leak ever on me.
