Curly about 25 years ago my best friend's brother in law killed a spike just like that in a shotgun only hunt at the Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant at Karnack...seems like TPWD aged it at 5.5 years old...

I like mature/unique deer like that. I would have harvested him and sent him to the taxi. Cool deer!

Nice deer and conversation piece..I saw one like that many moons ago..Not with that graceful curve..Just 2 (look like broom handles sticking up..Maybe 18" out around Comstock ..couldn't get shot and never saw again..Probably good to have him out of gene pool!

I saw that deer back in 1991.... He must be very elusive and long lived!

I bet the other deer didn't let him play in their games. They could lose an eye.

Unique trophy.....I don't think I've seen a spike (forget about the nubby brows) that large.

I rattled up the one I saw. Had him in the scope for a good 10-15 seconds while he was staring at me head on at about 50 yds, but I was too focused on searching for points and wondering why the heck I couldn't see any to even get a shot off. When he took off running, I was still fixated on looking at his horns. I wasn't drinking or doing drugs, so I didn't think it was a hallucination. It's just not something you see everyday. This was on a 5K acre lease and that was the only time that buck was seen.

Thanks for posting the pic.
