I'm in the process of drawing up some plans for a new deer stand at the ranch. Instead of reinventing the wheel does anyone have plans for a 4x6, 4x8 or 5x7 elevated deer blind.
I'm only going to elevate the blind about 4 feet or so. I would also like ideas on what to add to make it fun and easy for kiddos to hunt out of. My other blind I have, my kids can't see out of the windows so they get bored and mad that they can't watch with me.
What height do you put the windows at? (short enough for kiddos but tall enough for an adult to shoot out of) Do you slope the roof towards the front or back? Do you put windows in the back? (mine will be up against the tree line so there won't be any shooting out the back side. Do you use a cheap real residential door?
Your thoughts and plans would be very helpful and my kids are looking forward to building this with me.
Thanks in advance, Jeremy

Here is 4X6 Box blind with 4' window in front and 2' windows on sides. DeerBlind FlipUp windows are used. Windows bottom opening is at 40". Door opening is 2'x6'. I/O carpet is used to cover floor. Base is mounted on 8'x2"x10' skid so that it can be moved to different locations. Center height is 7'. Entire blind is painted with base coat of Bher OD paint. Camo spray paint is used to get camo finish. Total cost for all material was $463.50 with all material/lumber @ Home Depot. Only other item is Mr. Buddy Heater for cold mornings.

I built one 2 seasons ago with a cheap door from home depot and it rotted out. Keep that in mind as the cheap ones are only hollow doors. A solid door would probably be ok.
I will end up taking it out in the off season and probably just cutting plywood to fit.
I would also recommend not using OSB and stick with a better quality plywood.

Some good deck restoration paint will last a long time.
