They're sleeping waterfowl, from the species tired and taking a napp. You can tell by the distinct feature of their turned head and non-movment. When in flight these birds will crash upon falling to the ground.

Those are Red Breasted geese.

They are in the same group, Branta as the Canadians and the Hawaiian Goose.

looks similar to a Harlequin to me, but harlequins don have white on the rump. So I'm going with some type of domesticated Harlequin

You want to try and prove me wrong???????????

Branta ruficolis, about the size of a Cackler Canada, migratory to western Europe, nests close to Peregrine Falcon nests as a form of protection from Arctic Foxes.

Population in the wild has been steadily declining for about 20 years, estimated population in the wild is about 30,000 birds.

He worked at the FOrt Worth Zoo for 20 somthing years so I knew he would be right if he guessed. Plus he has something similer to these at his house that he raise's. Last time I posted one of these pics from the zoo asking for Id he knew exactly what it was. Comman name and Greek name.

Dude, before I was a Bambi Whacker I hunted waterfowl, and even after all these years they are my first love when it comes to hunting, ANYTHING.

As my signature used to say, "Being a Redneck Is Okay, Being A Stupid Redneck Isn't!"

Many folks that hunt want to claim how much they owe to the stuff that theodore roosevelt did to help preserve hunting and wildlife, yet they have let go of one of his primary goals as a sportsman, and that was to be a good amamteur naturalist and know all about the species he hunted.

I still live by that creedo.
