Although many timber rattlers meet their deaths at the hands of people or by automobiles, the fastest way to kill timber rattlesnake populations is by destroying or altering the places they need to hunt, hibernate and live. Today, every state inhabited by timber rattlesnakes has laws protecting the species, including Texas. In Texas, it is listed as a threatened species. This means that people cannot take, transport, have in their possession or sell timber rattlesnakes.

That is an awesome pic! up

I agree, don't hijack the thread, I think Pawpaw has exceeded the statute of limitations.

I saw one up in Howe a few years ago, was over 4 ft.

Thanks guys he was 86 when he got that sob! the reason he's at the golf course is because between golf matches he would go fish for an hour or so or check his throwlines all he ever did was play baseball, hunt/fish and play golf! cheers

Timber Rattlesnake (aka Cane Break). Protected by the State of Texas and the Feds. Otherwise I'd have a dozen of them as pets.... Same snake as on the "Noli Me Tangere" flag meaning "don't tread on me!"
