Did a browse survey this weekend with biologist and he informed us of potential changes being voted on in a few months. Seems they will do away with LAMPS and the different levels of MLD. There would be two programs, if passed, a harvest program which allows antlerless harvest through season, and does not require any management practices. The other is a conservation program, essentially what level III is now, but will not allow for protein and food plots to be counted as management practices.

Seems fair enough.

Interesting, seems it would simplify paperwork a lot. The TPWD biologist I worked with have never used feed or food plots when doing a management plan for MLD.

The ones we've dealt with have and suggested a percentage of acreage designated for food plots.. 3-5%, IIRC.

They made note of protein feeding and % of acreage in foodplots but still wrote the MLD plan based off of CC for the acreage.

Factored into receiving min or max permits.

Nope just gave permits based off of CC.

Likely regional differences.

Rifleman the MOD!? clap Don't doubt that STX, every one is different. Our biologist vetted us pretty good in the beginning, as we don't have the same numbers in ETX. Seems like a logical move on their part, and one with a longer term benefit of habitat.
