I was wondering if a remington model 700 in 243 is a good rifle for deer at about 100 yards? Great gun, great caliber! Congrats

700 Remington is one of the best in 243....recalls have involved the triggers. The old ones could fire when you moved the safety to fire and then moved the bolt back. The new ones just had a recent recall for trigger repair under warranty. Is there a production timeframe for the recall? I have an old one... Not sure of the time frame...I have one that is 30 plus years old. Two years ago it fired when I took it off safety to remove shells. Scared the crap out of me, local gunsmith fixed it for $20.

Love the .243 cartridge and I love the Remington 700's I do prefer the BDL, CDL, or detachable magizine models over the ADL

Just be sure to use bullets designed for deer and not varmints.

Great caliber and model. I have a 195x winchester model 70 featherweight .243 and my daughter has made some nice 100+ yard shots with it. I've knocked down the deer I've shot with it, one being about 147 yards. Deer went 10 yards and layed down behind a cactus. I use a 30.06 model 700. Never had a problem with model 700 or .243 caliber.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

The 6mm is slightly more powerful but not necessarily "better" and there are more powerful 6mms than it, too, so why stop there, if we're going down that path? Anyway, the OP apparently has his eye on a particular .243, so let's not confuse him.

I like my .243. Browning pre-81 BLR. Sweet, smooth and accurate. 6 different hunters have taken deer with it -- none lost! All you need if you put the bullet where its supposed to go.

i thought caliber choice was dependant upon the shooters height?
.243? better be over 6ft....
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.
