Great pics.

Good thing that first buck doesn't live in barbed-wire fence country.

No joke

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Seriously. Capybara I know, but what's the rest of it? Only thing I like about Brazil is their martial arts lolololol.

Hmmmmmm there's more in Brazil than Martial Arts......Food,woman,bull riders.....thats about it....lol!!!
That type of deer is always a spike, they never grow forks, not sure if that is a Mateiro(woods deer) or a Campeiro(fields, pasture deer). I wonder if his male parts are inflamed or they are all like that.....
They also have one called Cervo Pantaneiro, its like a mule deer with an white tail looking antlers, usually a 8 pointer with thick base, usually high and never wide kinda rack.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I grew up hunting and eating capybaras in adjacent Venezuela. It's a fun hunt, they're fast and wary and hard to stalk up to on open grasslands. Plus, they make for water when alarmed, and if a wounded one makes it to water you're going to have to fight black caymans to recover it (not a good idea). The trick is to anchor them where they're shot to keep them from bolting.

Our whitetails were about 70-80%% the size of a Central TX whitetail, and rarely if ever did I see anything close to what's considered a trophy around here.

Interesting side note for any Catholic hunters out there. there is a valid dispensation from the Vatican (issued 200+ years ago) that allows Catholics to eat capybara meat during Lent, which made it very popular in Venezuela during that time of the year. The meat is primarily salted and air dried (not smoked) and then used to make stews or served shredded.

Cool story. But is it any good?

Tastes like guinea pig.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.
