Do you folks stop using your spin type feeders when you start free choice protein feeding ?

We started feeding and we feed out of free choice feeders for protein. Not sure how much good timed protein feeders will do if the deer cant eat it when they want/need it. Still leave our corn spin feeders running all yr. We just turn them down to 3-4 seconds during the off season.

We feed corn year round but only a few feeders during off season and not as much as during the season.

Feed protein free choice from feb-oct.

THANKS,

Running both makes sense.

I don't have a protein feeder yet, but plan to get a Boss.

I do need to do some work on my spin feeder. One leg sunk in mud sits at an angle and need some

fill dirt under the feeder ( water stands there )

Super wet in the bottom.

I keep the spinner running until I see the deer hit protien, then I cut them off. Won't be long now. I have protien out year round but sometimes deer won't touch it for a while but once they do its hard to keep up with them.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I run both year round, but we reduce the corn down to about 3 secs am, 3 secs pm.

we feed protein from late January til September with corn going about 3sec twice a day just to keep them use to it. then come Septemeber we'll go straight corn twice a day to get them on a schedule.

We run both until April, by then there should be enough new growth to not need the corn feeders going. Protein from December through October.

I run a spin feeder while training deer to jump into feed pens and eat protein. I spin feed year round till I feel I have all the deer eating protein. I then stop using a corn feeder from March till late August then start for deer season. If I feed protein then that is all I want deer to eat.
