I finished this hen up, it makes a nice addition to my slowly growing hand carved spread. I had enough wood left to do this Killdeer. I have plans to take it to work and hassle some of the local killdeers there. I run out of wood for decoys s but have plenty of scrap so I started a mini collection.

Coot, those are all bad@ss!!!

It's normally a violation of the rules here to mention/link to other internet forums but I think this violation is within the spirit of the rule if not the letter, head on over to the WorkingDecoys forums if you haven't before. Every year before Christmas we do a mini swap that is a lot of fun. I have a bunch of them here at the house from different carvers and like to look at them. Even if you don't want to mess around with another forum, maybe one day if you're up for it we can do a mini trade.

I like your keel on that bird as well. Cool design.

Dave I was sitting at work one night a couple of weeks ago surfing the web and found the mini swap you speak of, It inspired me and I quickly drew out 2 mallards and they were done in a hour. My 6 year demands one of everyone I make. So I have to make 2 of everything now.

Jeff, I'm by no means against shooting one on the water. I'm sure it's gonna get plenty of character!
