Those mp are the bomb but so is the price. The sights are what sell them.
I'm looking at the 638 also Buy once cry once! I'm not going to cheap out on a firearm I plan on carrying. It has to be lightweight, effective and work every time the trigger is pulled! Big dot night sight is a plus! Carried this all day today...this is the lightest firearm I have carried...even forgot I had it on.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Not sure how great one would conceal but I've got my eye on the Ruger SP101 2.5 or 3 inch with either exposed hammer or no hammer. 38/38+p/357.

I think the LCR feels like it has had a trigger job right out of the box, and a hair lighter weight than the S&W 442. The trigger is quite smooth. Probably about a minimum order with most smiths, can't even guess. I have owned, and still own, as well as handled a few other S&Ws with trigger jobs that I didn't think were any smoother than the LCR. All I will say is that I trade and flip flop all the time just as a hobby with only a few here and there that get labeled as keepers, and the LCR is one.

If I were buying any revolver for carry purposes I would look at earlier models for two reasons, no safety locks and in general the actions are smoother. S&W 36,37,38,60. Ruger LCR is good value and dependable. Don't overlook the Colt Detective. Another that you should look at is the early Charter Arms, calibers were 22, 32, 38, & 44 special.
Some people poke fun at the Charter Arms, but David Berkowitz made the 44 special Bulldog a legend. He was carrying it concealed in NYC, had the entire city in a panic and no one ever saw him carrying the gun.

I've got a S&W Performance Center 637-2 with the enhanced action that I really like. The single action trigger is better than 90% of the off the shelf deer rifles. And the double action is really smooth too.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

either a 340 or 360 Smith&Wesson is the way to go. They are expensive but they are so lightweight you'll forget that you're carrying a gun.

I have carried a S&W model 60 with a 3 inch barrel for years. The 5 shot cylinder is not very wide. mine is a 357 but i normally keep 38sp in it.

22mag isn't big enough per company policy
If that policy changes let me know. Your welcome to borrow mine for a trial run. I have the S & W airweight/J frame in .22WMR. 7 round capacity and at just over 10 ounces you forget your actually carrying. High viz front sight. DAO. Trigger is crisp and comfortable.

If I could that would would be an ideal carry weapon with some 22 mag vmax. Prices start out decent in these little guns but climb rapidly for the package I would want. Better sights and smooth trigger is a must

I was in Bullet Trap when the first S&W 500 was sold and the new buyer wanted an IWB holster for it. I thought my Colt Trooper MKIII was to big to carry IWB.

I've never shot a bad guy with it but it drops pigs good with one shot using Hydra-Shoks. Now wad cutters and standard hollow points I've had mixed results.

I carry a Taurus M856 (6-shot model 85) in .38spl. I have replaced the stiffer factory springs with the wolf spring kit and it is pretty darn smooth now. I want to semi-bob the hammer to make it less apt to catch on things, but I don't want to totally lose the option of firing it in single action because that gun is pretty dang accurate! My wife has the S&W 637 airweight and I wish she had picked the 642. The hammer is snaggy on the 637 and I want to bob it every time I take it out of the IWB holster...
The .38spl is a great round for defense.
Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

You might look at S&W M15 if you are large enough. At one time LAPD issued them to their detectives & undercover agents. They were also issued to USAF officers in Vietnam if memory still serves me.

Another vote for the Ruger LCR because of the trigger! I have two 357's, but my wife's loaded with .38. My daughter's LCR in .22 is nice too.
Again, I'm an S&W fan. But, the trigger on the LCR series made the decision for us. Not even close.

But you're absolutely right about the factory trigger... it takes some $$$ and time at the gunsmith to get a S&W or a Taurus snub that smooth.
