Any of you guys tried spray on bedliner, undercoating, or insulation on the floors and walls of your box blind? Carpet gets so nasty I want to try something different.

As for the floors,, rubber horse stall mat. It not only insulates, quietens, but also holds water and mud on top for easy cleanup. Tractor supply has 1/4" and 1/2"

I've used r-13 in walls and then 4x8 sheet paneling from lumber store to finish walls. Cheapest I can find, usually 8-10 a sheet and adds minimal weight. On floor the TSC cut to length rubber horse stall mat seems to have been purpose made for deer blinds! Also add window screen material to keep deer from seeing your movement, its quiet and let's breeze in and bugs our when windows are open.

I don't think it'll be effective. Lots of Jeep guys talk about a significant increase in noise and heat with they remove the carpet and do bedliner.

Now, I haven't heard anyone talk about putting liner over a bare floor and what difference it made, but I wouldn't think it would be much.

My roof in my blind is a solid aluminum sheet, so it didn't take long to figure out I was going to need something. I cut up a sheet of 3/4 foam insulation, and glued a real thin, almost automotive, carpet to it, and then liquid nailed it to the roof. Used a few PVC pipes with Ts on the ends to provide tension holding the panels to the roof. Made a world of difference. I may do the rest of the blind that way this spring.

Oh, and if you do that, get the 3m Spray Adhesive with the 90 on the can. 77 is pretty good, but the 90 is the sugar on your french toast. DO NOT buy the loctite spray adhesive. I tried that, and wouldn't use it to hold two pieces of paper together.

The good thing about carpet is that it's cheap. Tax time is coming, find one of your neighbors who's getting theirs replaced and has thrown the old stuff at the curb. We've gotten some strange looks when we ask if we can have it, but we've never had anyone say no. We keep large patches of carpet on the ground around our trailers in camp to keep from having to walk around in a quagmire when it rains. Don't worry, they're mostly in the beige family of color, so as not to disrupt the feng shui. Cut a piece for your blind, use it till it's nasty, take it out, and repeat. Then find a responsible, adult manner in which to dispose of the old carpet, which probably doesn't include throwing it in the firepit and watching how much smoke it puts off.

Real hard to beat the thick TSC horse stall mat. Great noise dampening, super durable, easy clean up, and chair still roll well on it.
