I hate being on call. I have zero freedom. When the telephone rings I have 40 minutes to get 35 miles down the road. Sooo project pontoon, the duckzlut hotel is underway. Step one is remove evetything from the deck up. )

It was super hot humid and nasty this morning. My wife looked up and saw 100s of buzzards flying the leading edge of the front. Then the temp dropped like a fat kid sitting down ti eat a cupcake. How rejuvenating!!!! Then the rains came and shut us down.

You think you will have it ready for this season? Keep it all flat, put layout blinds on it, you are ready to go.

It will not be ready this season. It will have a 6 foot 5 inch tall box that runs the length and width of the boat. I will have a futon sofa for me and my wife, kitchen and bathroom. The only time she has ever hunted a public opener is when I slept at the spot and my buddy brought the wives at daylight. I have had packs of hogs, coons, deer run right by me. I have been to the cave and seen the critter. I don't scare easily. Hearing a pack of hogs coming running through thr bush and you cant get to a light fast enough, will let your mind runaway, I don't care how bad a mother scrapper you might be. I have sat haunched in downpours. I have frozen my sack for the last time. We will go late afternoon, get settled in. Maybe put a Stoufers lasagne in the oven. Maybe read a good book or watch a good movie. I will sleep in comfort! I am too fat, old and tired for all that sleeping on the ground BS.

We have one that we converted into a blind at our lease. It works great. It holds about 5 guys but you can also put a hunter on each side in the water if you have it in shallow water.

I'd just tie layout blinds on it. Or cut holes in the middle of coffin blinds

I'd just tie layout blinds on it. Or cut holes in the middle of coffin blinds That would defeat the purpose of the entire build. This thing has everything about getting my wife on public hunts. If I don't throw complete comfort into the build, she won't go.

Now I got something to work with. I could not figure out what happened to the carpet. It was black and crusted. I thought at first someone melted the carpet with a torch. Come to find out it was dead and crusted algi. I got the rails and old furniture off. I pressure washed that junk off and it looks good as new. My wife was happy with it so thats in the plus catagory.

If you were to leave that flat like that, how high would it sit above the water? I know you're building a blind, I'm just curious because I like the idea of the layout boat someone mentioned earlier.

Probably 2 feet from the water to the deck. I dont think it would work, recessing the hunter's positions below the deck as mentioned earlier. When under power, water will come up as high as the crossbeams under the floor. If somone were to recess the hunter's positions , I could see potential hazards while under power.
