Jump a pond at the lease Saturday morning. I have never seen so many ducks on one pond. First thing I spotted was the Bufflehead. Two for the wall

Nice, the only time I'll jump a tank is if there's a trophy.

We do this all of the time here in the panhandle. There are 230 producing wells on the ranch I hunt, and we hunt the water pits they use to drill/frac out of. Clean water, not saltwater.

We kill some true trophies. It is fun, as I will only kill a duck I am going to mount. I do not eat them so I will not waste them.

We see lots of ducks, and it is a fun hunt, kind of like spot and stalk.

Chasing a hooded merganser as I dream of mounting one of them, but have yet to see any on the ranch I hunt. Have seen some 2 miles away last week, but no go so far.

Blue wing teal and Cinnamon are the only ones left for the panhandle.

Seen 2 huge Canvasback drakes yesterday, but I just don't think they are pretty enough to mount for me. Just my opinion.

I think canvasbacks are beautiful. Heck I've shot half a dozen hoodies this year and finally shot my first Can last week.

This is what I am looking at right now. It's too dang cold with 40-50 mph winds or I would have gotten 30-40 more ducks in the pic.
