No price mentioned. Just sharing the photo. I thought he was pretty cool looking. I already have a client looking to take him. All our axis hunts are $2950.

He is a good looking buck!

He is a good looking buck! Yes, I think so too. I haven't seen one like this before. I have seen pictures of a browtine bent down but never had one on our place. When he was first spotted we thought it was a drop tine.

Very Unique buck for sure. Is your hunter going to hunt him in velvet or wait until he rubs out?

We are going to try to hunt him in velvet. The fear is that the browtine may break off. And right now he's in the perfect velvet condition. My hunter is supposed to show up today around 3pm. They switched to a different field on Sunday evening and Monday evening they were back to where these pictures were taken. I'm hoping they will stay on that side of the ranch as yesterday, and I think our chances of that improve with the cold front moving in. That side of the ranch has thicker woods. Its going to be high wind though and that may go against us. The winds are supposed to be 20-22 around that time of day and they are 15 now. The blind is set up right for the wind and has been in place for over a month. He just has to show up.
I'm just glad to see more signs of our axis getting the protein. Culling out all the red deer, fallow, and thinning out the scimitar oryx is helping a lot. Things are looking great for what I want our main focus to be which is WT, axis, and blackbuck. We have added about 900 lbs of rye grass and oats to our place this year in addition to the three - 3000 lb protein feeders. A fourth feeder will be added before spring and a third corn feeder. I need to get one more box blind for that corn feeder and I should be set the way I want.

Thanks for all the info Curtis, the photos of the Axis show some very healthy animals. I guess I'm Axis crazy or whatever but I really feel like they are the most beautiful animals that populate our state. It sounds like you have a soild plan of attack when your hunter arrives. It's great to see the guide get a plan together before the client arrives. Well Done sir. Good Luck to you and your hunter, I hope you get lots of photos that you can share!!! Baker

Thank you sir. I'm convinced that if all I had on my place was axis deer, I could stay booked all year on every weekend just for axis hunts. I keep record of how many inquiries I get from just off this forum. With every hunt I have sold on here I have 5 more looking for another. The trouble is I only hunt weekends now and the various species we have had on the ranch has limited the numbers of the axis. We also took a stronger approach to varmint control, filling in holes with cement and checking snares twice a day on perimeter. Three great pyrenese roam the property now and do well with the exotics. If they find a stray dog or a coyote, its not there for long and better pray hard it can get out before the three get ahold of it. Overall, the ranch is healthier and less stressed now.

Well latest news on this....hunter cancelled coming out today. Completely his decision. Wind discouraged him and he really wants to take it with a bow. Looks like we are trying after Christmas.

Hope that big boy stays that big unil your hunter shows up, sir! That is a great buck. If I ever have $2950 for hunting, you'd best bet that I'd kill an axis buck off of your property! for great animals, guy, and place.

That's better value than anything you can find here. Our chital hunts are sitting between $3-4k now and a 31" stag is considered a monster in Australia.
I prefer meat in it's original packaging.
