Thank yall. He came over the top of a mountain about 810am and just stood on the edge on top of a rock bluff for about 20min it looked like a magazine photo. He was about 100 feet above me and about 450 yards so I decided to try and get closer to him so I had to crawl for about 100 yards to get to a better spot with some cover and when I finally got setup he decided to start down the mountain so I waited till he got about level with me at 330yds and shot just a hair low and grazed his belly. He laid down in the grass and I thought he was gonna bleed out but after about 15min a whitetail ran by close to him and spooked him and he ran around the bowl of this canyon as I was walking to where he laid down. I couldn't see him moving and thought he was still laying. I heard rocks sliding as he was trying to go back up the side of the other mountain so I turned and saw him and got my sticks out and shot again across the canyon and dropped him at 275yds. He rolled down the mountain about 50yards and ended up right next to the road. Made for an easy recovery!

My friend is a long time friend of the ranch manager for this place and he lets my friend hunt the last weekend of mule deer season and he gets to bring a couple of people with him and I'm fortunate enough to have been invited the last 3 years.

I shoot a Remingtion 700 CDL SF in 270wsm with a Nikon Buckmasters 6-18x40 with a mildot reticle and 140gr Barnes VOR-TX

Take a close look at his ears. Half of both ears is missing and they look pretty uniform. Does anyone have any ideas on what might have happened?? We thought he either lost them to frost bite or that he may have been on a game ranch at one time and his ears were cut for some reason. The guy who lives on this ranch has shot lots of them over the years and has only ever seen one other ram with ears like that

Most likely frostbite got the ears or even ear mites which cause excessive scratching.
